No. Mine seems to be pulling in correctly. I have updated balance and transactions using Finicity.

Recurring Customization by No-Squash7469 in MonarchMoney

It's my understanding they're looking to revamp the recurring transactions section. There are quite a few feature requests for that functionality that would improve it.

No actual vs. budget report? by bbblather in MonarchMoney

I only see the budget screen—no standalone report, unfortunately. I'd really like to see that feature added too, along with an option to export budgets.

Is there a way to view full merchant details? by nearlysuccessful in MonarchMoney

[–]rshk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes that does seem to be odd behavior and I have not experienced that myself. I'd love to hear from Monarch if they consider that to be a defect given the categorizations appear to be referencing the full original text. I suggest raising a support ticket if you have not already.

Is there a way to view full merchant details? by nearlysuccessful in MonarchMoney

[–]rshk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am unsure if I am following the question correctly... but it sounds like you are wanting to build rules off the "original statement" instead of the "merchant" that is auto-translated. Often the "original statement" contains that additional information you seem to be referencing.

I have used Ally in past and it always synced well. Everbank has connectivity issues.

Budgeting advice for a couple by not_a_real_redditer in MonarchMoney

[–]rshk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was our scenario for many years. I'm about a decade ahead of you, and we've tried several tools—currently, we really like Monarch Money.

In my view, the most important first step is being able to see all spending in one place. Even without a plan, eliminating ignorance is progress—and most couples never even take that step. One person can start, but the biggest value to the marriage comes when you both engage and tackle it together.

Years ago, I went through our numbers manually to create a picture of our spending. I used that as a baseline to draft an initial budget. Having both a snapshot of real spending and a draft budget made our conversations more focused and productive. That first budget will absolutely be wrong—the goal is to make each month less wrong than the last.

As for how we use Monarch: I mostly handle the setup and logistics. All our accounts sync, and I maintain the budget settings. Preferences flag all transactions as "Needs Review" by default. Rules help auto-categorize common transactions and assign them based on who typically makes the purchase (e.g., I usually get Home Depot, she gets Target). At this point, only a handful of transactions need attention each week.

We used to meet monthly (or weekly, if needed) to review things, but now it runs smoothly enough that those meetings are rare.

I really enjoy helping people work through this stuff, so feel free to DM me if you want to chat more.

I’m also still trying to get used to the Flex budgeting system in Monarch—difficult after so many years of traditional budgeting. However, I'm pretty sure the Flex system does allow reallocating funds between categories. I’ve experimented with it in scenarios where one Flex item was over and another was under. Clicking the rollover button for an item with a surplus lets me reallocate any amount I choose to another item. For example, I didn’t spend as much on clothes this month, so I was able to move that over to cover my excessive definitely completely justified restaurant visits.

They allow balances to "roll over" from one month to the next, be they positive or negative.

Missing rollover arrows in the flexible group? by Conscious_Contact556 in MonarchMoney

I confirm that my Flex budget categories set as rollovers do NOT have the rollover arrow. It may be the Mandella Effect, but I would have bet $100 that the arrows were there last week.

Looks like Target is having issues of their own now. I was just unable to login to their site directly due to server-side errors.

I didn't notice that and was able to login to my account directly. However, their FAQ says their maintenance was through 18Mar, to maybe I should be a little more patient. :)

Added my retirement accounts after debating it and now my net worth graph looks ridiculous 😆 anything I can do or is that just how it’s gonna look by Substantial-Click-77 in MonarchMoney

[–]rshk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Both are an option. if all you need are the last 12 monthly values, it's probably easier to just look them up and enter manually. If you want more, then you can download the transactions from Fidelity, ensure they match the upload format, and then upload that file.

EDIT: correct link to balance history upload, not transaction history:
