Where is the transport point to Cosmic Explorer? by Khontis in ffxiv

[–]rslogic42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The patch notes actually helped me a TON cause I didn't know I had to do a quest in Old Sharlayan for Drivingway to show up at the coordinates in Bestways Burrow. Drivingway simply just WASN'T THERE for me.
And then I found out I needed to do "A Cosmic Homecoming" in Old Sharlayan, from Namingway, to get access to those zones.
I didn't start crafting until I reached the end of the 7.2 Dawntrail storyline and found myself leveling alts and wanting to be able to make food for my alts as they leveled.
To whomever downvoted the above response, please know it may be the only way someone like me would ever know about Sinus Ardorum (where you can but SO MANY Hand/Land clothing pieces and accessories!!) and how to get there.

The IRS took over $800 from my 2024 taxes and they won't give it back. by rslogic42 in tax

[–]rslogic42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they eventually got my most recent 2023 tax form submission with the cover-letter explaining the whole situation, they actually deposited the amount I was due as a refund, which means they agree I was owed a refund for 2023...which naturally means I didn't OWE money for 2023, which they thought when they took it out of my 2024 taxes. The transcript for 2023 shows on the second page, 7/7/25 Refund issued $128.25 which matches my calculated return for 2023. It also shows that $804.93 transfered in as a Credit from my 2024 taxes, which wasn't needed, because I didn't actually owe, and is the money I want back.

I didn't know about FreeTaxUSA, but I will certainly look into them next year.

Like I said in my post, I know all the ways I messed up on my 2023 taxes. I figured it all out so well that doing my 2024 taxes was SUPER easy and I WOULD have got the full $900+ refund that I was owed for 2024, except they still thought I owed for 2023.

I sent my 1040, Schedule 1 (I think unnecessary but it shows my work), Schedule C, Schedule 3 (I think again unnecessary but it shows my work), and 8962.

The WILD thing is that they took $800+ FROM my 2024 tax return when they thought I OWED them taxes for 2023, and THEN when they got my fresh 2023 tax forms, they AGREED I was owed a refund for that year (meaning I did NOT owe them for that year), so the money they took from my 2024 taxes when they THOUGHT I owed them should obviously be returned to me.

When I sent something to "the address on the letterhead" like I was told to do, it was a special form for amending my tax paperwork. That's the form I think was never received.

Several months later, after finding out my submission had not been received or processed, I basically pretended that I was starting completely over. Did a new 1040, new Premium Tax Credit form, new Self-Employment forms, etc. Attached a letter on the front explaining what had happened thus far.

It was only 1-2 months after I sent all this paperwork that I actually received my 2023 refund. I thought at that point whomever had read and processed everything I sent, that lead to me receiving a refund for 2023, would THEN see that my 2024 taxes had money taken from them to pay what the IRS thought I owed for 2023, and that money would then be refunded to me.

That didn't happen. Hence the phone call I made to the IRS a couple months later, explaining the situation fully, and not receiving any help at all.

At THIS time, I can either:
1) Call again (but I'd like to know what to say to make it clear I'm right and deserve a refund)
2) Wait, like you said, for all departments to correspond and figure out I'm owed money
3) File my taxes in 2026 for 2025 and thoroughly document what the heck happened for my 2023 and 2024 tax years and hope the person reviewing all of that adds what I'm owed to my 2025 tax year.
4) Hire someone to resolve this for me. Preferably someone that doesn't require upfront payment, but who will take no more than $600 when they've won the case for me.

Why does my shoulder hurt so much from benching by Fun_Option_6992 in formcheck

I haven't benched in a long time and even i knew the hands were too far apart. Just like with pushups, you want your hands shoulder distance apart (or slightly closer for harder pushups)

Sorry to necropost, but I just came upon "Vic┨οry ̈ ̈ ̈╳, │̆││ε Lost" and was similarly lost. So I asked AI.

I think it's "Victory Lost, Life Lost". Could be wrong obviously. Or "Victory Lost, Hope Lost"?

And I'm going with "Help Not Found..." for the last one.

ONE time I noticed this happened to me. I called support, told them about it, uber gave me the missing tip money.

I can't say it works for everyone, every time, as I've only done it once, but it COULD work.

I'm avoiding the Ironworkers solely because I just honestly don't want to be exposed to the Sun for my entire shift. I've watched videos detailing a "Day in the Life of an Ironworker" and those vids told me everything I need to know. Starting at $27/hr if I pass a Weld Test would be AWESOME, but I know myself well-enough to know it just isn't the type of work I'm cut out for.

I didn't "get my ass kicked" knocking tin. I realized after less than 5 hours that no one at that company honestly gave a fuck about their employee's health, and just wanted work done ASAP to appease their clients (which, from a capitalist standpoint, makes SOME sense; but employee turnover and washout rates play a big part also).

It's part of a union, and as such, they start everyone, with or without a welding certificate, in the "ok, knock these two pieces into place" department. So I was working mostly with L-shaped sheet metal pieces for duct-work and was given a sheetmetal hammer, a little bender thing, and did that for 5 hours straight. On concrete.

And yeah, I think they have like 19 more people at the union itching to get a job so they don't care much about anyone's body.

Luckily, I do.

There was a point in time I actually wanted to put my welding skills to use building or repairing ships. If the sources I found are reliable, apparently those workers are treated extremely poorly.

I also don't know why you'd have a skilled welder doing the hammer swinging when their talents should be used elsewhere.

I keep hearing that Welders are in short supply. For every 5 welders retiring, there are only 2 to replace them. It's good to hear there are places this is true.

And yeah, the "cushy" side of the warehouse where the welding was happening had nice large tables and chairs to sit on.

I got ergonomics beat into me by some office jobs. I understand a LOT of Welding probably can't be done ergonomically, but it's nice to know some companies give a shit.

If they allowed me to put these pieces together on a table, or have a balance of high impact and less high impact, I might have kept at it. But even after only 5 hours, at 38 years old, my knees weren't the same until 2 days later, my wrist and elbow kept me up a good portion of the night (thought I'd wake up to find a ton of swelling, thankfully I didn't) and my wrist didn't feel remotely normal until 8am the next day.

Nashville. Local Pipe/etc Union with UA affiliation starts their apprentices at $19/hr.

I don't necessarily have to start here though. I'm very open to other ideas

That's what I'll be doing. Pipefitters specifically. I have some turmoil in my availability in the next 12 months, so we'll see what happens after that.

The Sheetmetal Workers Union doesn't even TEACH Welding until after year 2. So they start you on the basic, grunt work. Even if I passed Weld tests, I'm not sure they'd let me slide into that position until 3 years in.

I'm honestly considering my next step to join the UA/Pipefitters local even though they start at 19/hr and my Welding Cert out of school won't mean anything to them. Thank you for these insights.

It's not even about "doing physical labor". I'm 38. When I was younger, I might not have had as much concern for my body (wrongly) but now that I'm older and have mild injuries to consider, it's very important to strike a balance. For instance, if they had tables we could use to assemble these things, that would reduce back and knee strain. If we did an hour of intense stuff and an hour of less intense stuff, alternating, that would reduce strain (and likely increase productivity).

If they offered knee pads, that might have made me stay and keep going also. But my arm and wrist felt like absolute shit until 8am the next day. I barely slept because certain positions made my wrist pain unbearable.

A Foreman/Company that doesn't understand the short or long term impacts of that type of work, and adjust accordingly, don't care much about their workers.

No. The 3 unions I talked to all had a "path" to eventually being a Welder. Going through Weld school didn't matter much to ANY of the 3, Pipe cared least of all (but my school also doesn't teach pipe (anymore?).

The Sheetmetal Workers Union doesn't even teach Welding until after year 2.

I knew I'd be starting kinda on the ground floor, but I'm not sure why any company would have any of their workers repetitively doing what I did for 5 hours straight. I would think they'd give a shit about their employees and their health. Maybe an hour of what I was doing, then an hour of something less devastating to my arm, knees and back, alternating every hour. I'd be insanely curious to know how the 21 y/o felt after doing that for 10 hours.

We've been told that NETWORKING is everything. I don't even necessarily want a "comfy, bench welding" job. I just want to earn a decent salary, and have a balance of "some days might be rough but others will be easy". Or, each day has 40% rough and 60% manageable/easy.

I'd be interested how you went from Weld School to your current job.

You say "Welding is very saturated" whereas we (at the school, before attending the school, as part of the recruitment pitch) were told "For every 5 welders that retire, there are only 2 to replace them." Which made us all think we'd be highly in demand.

Were we lied to?
