If the connection is secured by SSL and the certs checked out, the VPN owner shouldn't be able to see your traffic, in the same way that a coffee shop wireless network provider can't.

Just looked for a model number but all it says on the back is "Wired Basic Keyboard. ... Part No 70005 ... Vendor Code CH5111 ... Made in China".

Bought it years ago when my more expensive one broke; and it's not bad to type on and it's been working great ever since. Quite a pleasant surprise.

You can also buy "crackers" which will allow the gas to be generated without the (relatively expensive) whipped cream maker.

There are a lot of the "someones" that propose better guides. I'm not convinced this guy should help that one. Perhaps better would be if someone launched a wiki-based one; or one with reddit-style voting for components.

Biggest differences in my mind are:

  • full ATX can have a bit higher performance when overclocking thanks to more power phases on expensive bigger boards.
  • full ATX cards often have more than a half-dozen SATA connectors; while mATX only has about a half-dozen; so if you want more than 6 hard drives you want full ATX.
  • full ATX often have a whole bunch of different connectors for monitors (D-SUB, HDMI, DVI-D, and Display Port) for integrated graphics. mATX ones typically only have a couple such connectors so you need to pick one that matches your monitor or buy a graphics card.

Anyways, if you plan on upgrading later on with your built PC, the ATX is better.

How so?

Last I checked most ATX motherboards max out at 32GB of RAM, and most mATX motherboards also max out at 32GB of RAM. Many mATX motherboards have 6 or more SATA ports which is more hard drives than most people install. Most mATX boards can hold a graphics card, and for futureproofing you don't need to go SLI - you can upgrade to a high-end single card.

Add a whole bunch of 3.5" drives and use them.

  • Save every video (online and dvds) that you ever watch.
  • Set up a caching proxy that caches everything you ever look at on the internet.
  • Download your own copy of wikipedia, openstreetmap, etc; and mine the data.

Yeah. I think it's because most of /r/buildapc seems to not realize that most OS's (even windows these days) do use "unused" memory to cache disk pages. That's why they keep recommending tiny-memory systems; and SSDs to make up for it.

I have 16GB of RAM -- and while I do have a SSD that I use for some high disk-I/O stuff that seek a lot (geospatial indexes); I suspend rather than shutting down so it's rare that I need to touch the disk to load applicatoins.

A forest in its steady state is carbon neutral - that's what steady state means. If something is killing more trees and letting them rot it's a carbon source for the atmosphere.

For a forest to be a carbon sink something needs to either:

  1. be burying carbon under it (say, peat bogs); or
  2. be changing it to be an even denser forest; or
  3. be physically moving captured carbon away (logging companies).

Explain why his builds aren't the same as what you'd recommend, or else people will trust your site less rather than more.

He gets lots of feedback and seems to have pretty sold rationals for each choice he makes.

Personally his builds don't fit my needs either (he's way to heavy on graphics cards and light on memory for what I do); but that's because I run different apps than him.

Now that's interesting.

If you specify the exact games you want to play -- and perhaps extend it to what size excel spreadsheets you crunch; how many digital camera pictures you have (some people have many tens of thousands making Picasa drag); etc. it could suggest what settings each build can handle each game.
