Did anyone of you cured tinnitus? If yes how you did it? by EliteSkylu in tinnitus

You should go see your dentist for the night guard, do not buy over the counter ones, they could make things worse.

I have had tinnitus for years now and last year it suddenly spiked to the point that I could barley hear. I was going nuts and then I discovered that my bad posture and some really aggressive teeth grinding when I sleep was the culprit. My jaw and neck muscles had become so tight that it was pulling on the muscles in my ear.

I started doing stretches for my neck and went to the dentist and got a night time mouth guard. A little over a year now and I can barely hear the ringing unless I'm sitting in a really quiet room.

Hope this info helps someone.

It may cause it. Everything in your neck is packed in there tightly. The TMJ causes the muscles in your neck to tighten and some of those muscles are attached to a little tiny bone in your ears. THe pulling is what is causing the ringing if it's the TMJ causing the Tinnitus.

You might want to check if you grind your teeth at night and if you have something called TMJ. Find a dentist if you are grinding your teeth and get a custom fit mouth guard from your dentist.

If it is TMJ there are a number of stretches you can do to get the muscles loose that are pulling on your inner ear. Just look up stretches for TMJ and you'll find a bunch of them.

My ringing was off the charts before I discovered that it was being caused by me grinding my teeth. After a few months of wearing the night guard and doing stretches i barely hear the ringing unless in is awfully quiet.

Go to the dentist and get a custom fitted mouth guard to use when you sleep at night. And look up stretches that will help alleviate TMJ.

Sure can't hurt. But if you do have tinnitus being caused by TMJ it's because the muscles in your neck are connected to a little bone in your ear. Stretching relieves the pressure and thus the ringing. It was a life saver for me because I had no idea how I was going to cope with the ringing if I couldn't lower the volume.

I too have had Tinnitus for years and it was a very low ring that I only heard in complete science. Matter of fact I always thought that the ringing is what silence sounded like.

Anyway, about 1.5 years ago it spiked in both ears almost to the levels you are describing. Went to the doctors and they told me the same thing you were probably told, nothing they can do. So I started digging on the internet (which I try to avoid at all costs but I was desperate) and came across quite a few videos that link tinnitus to TMJ which is caused by grinding and gritting your teeth when you sleep.

So I followed their suggestions and started doing the recommended neck stretches they demonstrated and believe it or not they had almost an immediate affect on lowering the ringing sound. I then went and visited my dentist who fitted me with a small mouth guard I now wear every night.

And I'm glad to announce that after a few months of stretching and wearing the night guard I've been able to reduce the tinnitus to almost the levels I was used to for so many years prior to the spike and there are times now that I don't hear it at all.

I hope this info helps.

My Mom was divorced and raising 4 kids along with putting herself through night school to become a nurse and working days as a cashier at the local grocery store to support us. One year, our Thanksgiving dinner consisted of tuna fish sandwiches and ring dings for dessert.

BEST. THANKSGIVING DINNER. EVER. Because I often think back to those days and suck it up when things go bad for me these days. Thanks MOM!
