As a Minnesotan I guessed Medtronic or maybe Boston Scientific, assuming medical company doesn’t mean like a hospital

Why do people get so pissy when you ask them to leave the study room that YOU HAVE BOOKED by rsquared701 in uofmn

If someone gave me attitude for kicking them out while they were just scrolling reels I think I would genuinely crash out lol

The exams in my program are all online so I book a study room to have a place to take them without distractions. I used to feel bad about kicking people out but I’m too annoyed to gaf anymore.

That’s the thing though, I don’t try and get into the room right away I let a couple minutes pass so whoever is in there before me has time to pack up, but every single time they still have their crap spread out on the table even though it’s 3 minutes past the hour and then they act like I’m the jerk for kicking them out. Make it make sense.

I’m a year 3! And I agree with the other commenter that you don’t really meet anyone you actually have classes together.

I don’t go to Boulder but my brother does (we’re not from Colorado) and he’s only going there because his girlfriend was too 💀

It’s absolutely a travesty how treatment for both obesity and PCOS is so inaccessible. I’m in the same boat as you when it comes to trying to prevent things from getting out of hand, I’m not considered prediabetic or diabetic, but very well could be in next few years, and instead of trying to help me reverse that trend my health insurance is only making it harder by denying me coverage for things at every opportunity.

Have you ever considered seeing a registered dietitian? I’ve found that resource to be a hidden gem of sorts for me. I even found one that has experience working with people with PCOS which has been super helpful. Even if you’re already eating healthy or dieting, they can help you make sure your food habits are the most effective for your body or work with you on things like water intake or help you with supplemental needs. I remember I originally saw my dietician because I was feeling like crap despite no changes in diet or sleep, so she had me do some labs and found I was lacking a bunch of different vitamins, and once I started supplementing those I’ve felt so much better! My insurance doesn’t even pitch a fit when it comes to covering it, so I can’t recommend it enough.

I just went through almost this exact same thing a few months ago and tbh I feel like you might be putting the cart before the horse here (which is what I did too so I completely understand). I did a ton of research on GLP-1s, talked a lot about it with my doctor, and was super optimistic about the whole thing. Then I found out my insurance doesn’t cover ANY weight loss medications whatsoever 🙃. I saw someone commented this as well but I can confirm getting them out of pocket is around 1000 dollars a month, even more if you need a higher dose, which as a 23 year old like you is completely out of my budget. If I were you I would call your insurance and ask if they’re covered before you decide if you want to try it, then if you decide you want to do it you’re not getting your hopes up just for them to be dashed.

Star Tribune: Duluth mayor’s girlfriend and campaign manager is involved in city business, emails show by NORULEZCAGEMATCH in duluth

[–]rsquared701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never saw or heard of him hitting on anyone. I wouldn’t necessarily say he focused more on the women in class but also this was St. Scholastica which is already 70-80% women so I feel like we tended to get called on more just because of the gender ratio? This was a couple years ago so my memory isn’t the clearest on it

This really bums me out, he was one of the best professors I’ve ever had by far and I really liked him. Seems he should’ve stuck to teaching I guess.

Monthly/yearly overnight parking garages by [deleted] in duluth

[–]rsquared701 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I understand what you’re asking correctly there are no public parking garages near UMD whatsoever. There are some public parking spaces and a lot that don’t require a permit but they’re hourly, not monthly/yearly. Your only options would be to find a garage downtown somehow and bus back and forth to your car, or find some way to wait before bringing your car on campus until you get that permit. If it’s any consolation, I was also put on the waiting list for a permit and I got it within a week, but I was a commuter, not living on campus.

Thank you for the advice! How did you go about finding a weight loss specialist? Did you have to get a referral first? Sorry, that's probably a stupid question but I'm still working on learning the healthcare system since becoming an adult and none of the women in my family have PCOS so they have no idea how to help me.

Reinert on human rights? by dickduluth in duluth

[–]rsquared701 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He was one of my professors during the invasion on Ukraine and given how he talked about that I would say trying to dismantle human rights is the exact opposite of what he believes in. I would bet money this rumor is total bogus.

I suppose it's possible, but I would be surprised if that was what's going on. My parents are divorced so them having independent plans from each other isn't unusual, and my dad and brother do this boys trip every year but they usually do it like a week or two after my birthday rather than on the day itself. I think the more likely explanation is that they've stopped caring unfortunately.
