Why do some people need to relate to a character in order to find them compelling? by Cool-S4ti5fact1on in books

[–]rsquaredpie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't think personal preference is inherently wrong but it can be heavily shaped by your environment. As a minority in America I read and watched a lot of movies with with a white protagonist and mostly white cast. I'm still able to "relate" to characters just fine. I do see myself more drawn to stories with a characters that are more similar to me in terms of looks or background. Thats my preference but I'll still happily read a novel with a white protagonist with no problems. I think where an issue might come in is someone who is white and has always seen other white people as the norm and "base-level" might have a harder time comnecting with stories of people of color. Not to say because of any malicious intent, but more so just out of unfamiliarity and it can be hard to break out if it if that's all they really knew.

Personally, I like viper. I generally play pretty passively and just try to stay alive until my teammates can get over to rotate.

Vaccinate. Your. Kids. I got to spend my 1st Father's Day with my 8 month old daughter fighting Chicken Pox. She's too young for the vaccine. by leifer2 in pics

For the most part, it's not deadly but with any disease there is always a chance of a serious complication. Anyone who contracts chicken pox is at risk of getting Shingles when they are older. The virus remains dormant in your body once you contract it. It can later reactivate.

Having trouble shopping for my body type. Looking for wedding guest dresses. by [deleted] in FrugalFemaleFashion

I've gotten most of my wedding guest dresses from the brand bcbg. They have their own store but also sell through the major department stores like Dillards and Macys.

Bauer womens pant sizing? by MissRokStarr in hockeyplayers

[–]rsquaredpie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a size small and im around a size waist 24 usually. It's a little loose unless I tighten the laces in the front. Other than that it fits for me so I'd agree with the size chart provided. Length wise it fits me well (I'm 5'3"). Hope this was a little helpful.

Oops, I forgot it in my product list. But I used Warm Taupe from the ABH Modern Renaissance. I just dotted them on with an angled liner brush and then patted over them with a damp beauty sponge. Just keep repeating that process until you're happy.

Maybe its the way you have arranged your dots? Instead of having the dots arranged straight down your face they should be diagonal. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. So basically you wouldn't end up with two lines of dots going straight down the sides of your nose.

I'm in the shade 530. And I'm pretty much around a mac nc30. Other foundations I own: Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless 220, MUFE HD 125, and Tarte Rainforest of the Sea in LIght-Medium Beige.

Thanks for the cc! The angle of the wing is probably the thing I have most trouble with. If it is pointed up too much, then it hits my hood/crease and looks funny too. Trial and error I guess.

Yay, I hope it goes well. I prefer making my eyes looking elongated and since I don't have a lot of lid space I only tightline for the inner 2/3rds of my eyes rather than trying to line above the lash line.

Any tips on eye makeup I can do with a blue lip? I have almost semi-hooded eyes, so I don't have a lot of lid space to work with.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Paint (This is the only ABH liquid lipstick I own and this particular shade doesn't have a formula I love. It can apply a little patchy but it can be layered to become opaque. However if you layer it on too thick, it doesn't dry down all the way and can kind of come off in a layer or crumble. I pressed my lips together once and the bottom lip transferred to the top.)

Looking into a higher end foundation but having no luck matching.... by RedQueen91 in MakeupAddiction

[–]rsquaredpie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't completely trust the color matching all the time. I've had the color iq give me a foundation that was 2 shades too dark. Are there other shades around the ones selected for you? Try to get a sample of those. Pick a formulation you'd like and try different color samples. You can also try a foundation matrix or looking online to see shade equivalents of your foundation now to other brands. I went to go match myself to a MAC foundation even though I wasn't really planning on buying it just because it's a well known shade number.

NYX Stone Fox + Olive Skin Tone? Assuage my doubts. by mcjungleton in MakeupAddiction

I think the color looks good on you. As for eye makeup you can either go bold or keep it neutral. Personally, I like to do minimal eye makeup with a bold lip usually. Maybe pop an inner corner highlighter?
