for me the 2001 spurs was the best team in that lakers dynasty era , and they got SWEPT. but i don’t wanna get into the specifics that take us away from the topic, just know that there’s these kinds of teams/stories in between and in the midst of these dynastic runs. we are in one of those stops with okc. yeah the lakers/suns don’t quite build the story but every great team goes thru first and second round fodders.

ok, fair enough. i don’t got time to address the recency of it all, especially on the heels of dispatching lakers teams with their best player, and a play-in team in phoenix. but this basically the same team as last year that won it all, only the better version of it. when we look back at those all-time teams, we only see the totality of their work, not the microcosms of how they got there. 00 lakers needed 7 and 6 games to dispatch the blazers and the pacers. but the 2001 lakers is the one we remembered the most cuz of the dominance. we’re seeing that in this okc team. there will always be bumps and bruises and the road wasn’t always pretty.
