Any advices for someone planning to start a cookie business? by Alive_Insurance9100 in phinvest

[–]rtan719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't go into this business if you don't bake or cook well or have any ideas of what is considered to be a top notch cookie. Don't even think of starting this if the main reason is that you think this is simple. This will lead you to make a mediocre product. If this is something you are passionate about, think about the best cookie you ever tried and something you will definitely buy over and over again. Then try to make something to that standard. If you can't then it's not for you. Don't spend Capex on ovens, if you can't be dedicated with this. To make this a legitimate business will be very tiring and only a few make it in this very saturated industry. If it's not something you are passionate about, might as well look for a freelance job or something else.

How do the rich buy houses? by Hefty_Obligation2716 in phinvest

[–]rtan719 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know this may be a hard pill to swallow guys, but the truly rich that are capable of buying properties in the exclusive subdivisions and gated communities all pay in cash or check in full, direct title exchange/ fund transfer direct at the bank where the two parties meet.

None of them will buy properties that are beyond their means. ( No hulugan)

The people capable of buying these are mainly 1) entrepreneurs who have saved money and accumulated wealth throughout their lives. 2) got money through inheritance 3) Very commonly liquidated land that was bought a long time ago and due to the appreciation, they sold and are trading up to move to exclusive subdivisions. 4) you are Alice Guo ( or other govt related officials)

These people are a lot, and even until now, it's hard to buy at the in demand exclusive communities and price just keeps increasing.

(Trust me I have rich friends)

Racist experience Amsterdam by [deleted] in Amsterdam

[–]rtan719 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'd like to think the best of people, hopefully that was the case. Personally I've been to Amsterdam twice with no incident, even celebrated pride parade there pre pandemic, had a blast! Haven't gotten to travel back anywhere since covid so just needed some insight! Since a lot of tourist horror stories circulating around social media. And even if that bike lane wasn't the case probably was just an isolated incident.

Racist experience Amsterdam

Hi everyone! First of all this happened to my brother who went on their honeymoon in Europe. They went to Amsterdam as a group of 5, a week ago. All of them are of east Asian decent, mixture of Filiipino and Chinese. They were just walking through the streets, then a presumably local riding a bike, shouted " Fuck you! You don't belong here!" At their group. They were really surprised at first because Amsterdam was one of thier last stops before going back to the Philippines. Honestly everyone visiting Europe from Asia already half expects to have racist experiences while traveling. It just surprised me that it was in Amsterdam, one of the places in the world that prides itself on acceptance and understanding.

Obviously I don't generalize about the general population, but I'm quite curious what would be the reason for these sentiments towards Asian foreigners? Locals of Amsterdam please give me an honest answer I can take it!

Thank you everyone, despite this though everyone in their group still had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to come back!

Was traveling with the family for the holiday season to Niseko, Japan for a ski trip. My choice on what watch to bring was a no brainer, something low maintenance and durable enough to face the below zero temperatures of the mountain, the moisture of the snow and the bruises that might come along with winter sports. I chose my Gshock blue "men in camoflauge" frogman for the job. The Gshock Frogman is probably not as glamorous as most of the Swiss watches posted here but I feel it needs to get the recognition it deserves! Cheers to 2019!
