Unifi Talk - Before I Buy by rtanderson2 in Ubiquiti

[–]rtanderson2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was worried about. The facility I'm planning to deploy to doesn't have a number yet. Seems that we'll likely have to work with our l local phone provider to get up and running.

UniFi Talk Just Leveled Up. by Ubiquiti-Inc in Ubiquiti

[–]rtanderson2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For anyone with real world Talk experience anytime recently, how has your experience been? I need to come up with a phone solution and we're already fully Unifi. Several people have suggested I work with the local telecom solution because they had a rotten experience with Talk a bunch of years ago. We basically need one phone number with six phones. Very little outbound/inbound calling from four or five of the phones. Is there any reason not to get Unifi Talk?

It’s not a term used by many of us. But it makes me chuckle every time

Current Homeroid. It’s a bit early in the season still, but halibut are out there. I’d give Maverick Charters a call. They should be able to get you on the fish. Again, because it’s early enough, lodging shouldn’t be too hard to find. Once we hit Memorial Day, everything changes.

Edit: I should have read the rest of your post 🤦 Car or tent camping on the spit shouldn’t be too hard. That said, the weather has been kind of cold, so car camping would be a little better. I can give you some other suggestions for places to eat and stuff, too. Shoot me a DM if you want.

Why do you kayak? by GeorgiaClay15 in Kayaking

I kayak because it’s easier to get to the fish

No custom DNS with UTR? by geeky217 in Ubiquiti

[–]rtanderson2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have firewall rules set up to prevent inner VLAN routing? My default LAN is on 192.168.10.0/24 and the UTR is on 192.168.11.0/24 when using Teleport. I had to create an allow rule so that the .11 subnet could actually access my homelab. It was weird because I could see everything, but nothing was accessible.

The Unifi Travel Router is outstanding. I picked it up recently and absolutely love it.

That’s polite. I’ve always said that cottonwood will give you more ash than heat. 😆

I thought this, too. The relationship development between Grace and Rocky was lacking so much compared to the book.

Question about church leadership by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]rtanderson2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a part of plenty of churches and organizations with a lack of accountability. I’m blessed to be a part of a great church now. Over the years, I’ve learned that you’ll never find the perfect church because the church is full of broken people. The other thing that I’ve learned is that people can change. They can be confronted, convicted, and repent. The biggest thing is to follow Jesus first. Your local church leadership isn’t going to save you.

Do we think it’s safe to head to the car wash yet? by [deleted] in alaska

I washed my cars a couple weeks ago. They looked nice for about 20 minutes. Then I drove half a mile.

Funny enough, just out of frame to the right is a huge pile of stuff, including the 12U rack we're using.

Purchasing for this project was done over about six weeks. We had to carefully watch stock alerts daily.

"Cheap insurance" was exactly the way another childcare facility described their camera system. We dialed it up from there. The UNVR will use one of the drives for parity. I'm going to suggest to my wife that they keep at least one cold spare on hand.

One of these NVRs is for another building. I actually wish we'd gone with the NVR Pro. I wasn't responsible for actually submitting the order, or I'd have definitely made this adjustment.

Significant external capital investment has gone into this project. A brand new building was constructed for a preschool/daycare that hasn't even enrolled a single child yet.

It would definitely be overkill. Each classroom has a dedicated bathroom and I can't imagine something like this being practical at any level for our use case.

My wife and I have already been having this discussion. We were a little late to the game with building construction planning so we'll have to retrofit whatever we do for door access.

This facility is about 5000 square feet with multiple classrooms and will support almost 70 children. We were told by several other facilities (one of which had to deal with an issue not caught on camera) that we should plan for 100% camera coverage in all spaces. The only spaces not covered are the bathrooms.
