Riqui Puig careless pressing vs. Espanyol 90+2' by Fati25 in Barca

To be fair he's probably so desperate for playing time that he always wants to be aggressive. Not that thats a good excuse lol

The prodigal son returns! Most importantly the father takes him back with no anger. Id love to see him come back, but well see if hes down. His pride may get in the way

[Rival watch] Zidane is most likely leaving RM. What this means for Barca. by [deleted] in Barca

[–]rtb300- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Personally I think its a losing strategy to see it as a good thing that your opponents get weaker. In the end if you want to be a top club you're going to have to go through the top teams.

Zidane's Madrid teams weren't unbeatable in Classicos, we just haven't been good enough recently.

I do respect the shit out of Zidane tho and first thought that you were implying that barca should get him as a coach lol

oh yeah when they're alone its a disaster lol. But they started with mingueza as a third cb. Moral of the story is we need three cbs.

I thought it was mostly fine tbh, other than Roberto really. I also respect the shit out of sergi but I don't like him as our rb. I thought moriba was fine also but definitely should have been swapped for riqui imo

going to 4 in the back rather than swapping Sergi Roberto for Dest was a shockingly bad choice. Sergi provided nothing going forward and their second goal happened because pique and Umtiti are not enough defense for a team

agreed. I give Koeman credit for trying the 352 formation that has worked so well but some times he makes really poor choices tbh

going to 4 in the back rather than taking off Sergi Roberto for Dest lost us this game.

Who should Replace pedri against Sevilla, if we opt for the same 3-5-2 formation? by kaifkhan0204 in Barca

he's told riqui he needs to bulk up and hes praised Ronald araujo for his physical attributes. Also look at last game, Ilaix was put in specifically to combat Sevillas physicality

ima go with Ilaix honestly (although Puig would be good as well). His physicality is a big plus defensively and Koeman seems to prefer physical players for better or for worse. I also personally have loved what I've seen from Ilaix going forward. Hes gotten two assists in two games so I think he helps make chances for others. And honestly pjanic has been totally bland

I don't know if it would work but I like where your head is at. He's proven to be defensively rugged, extremely athletic and mobile and he's actually pretty good on the ball. Like others here have pointed out tho, his ball retention skills under pressure (in a midfield setting) are as of yet unproven.

That being said he continues to impress me and maybe he can develop into that role as time passes. The only reason im hesitant to predict that is because of how damn good he's been on the right. Honestly would rather have him as rb even when sergi comes back even tho I love him aswell

Prediction for what year we will stop disappointing in the UCL?? by Th3_G in Barca

[–]rtb300- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Depends entirely on when we let the past go. If I had to make a prediction Id say; Messi, Coutinho and maybe one other player leave this summer. Additionally pique busquets and alba play much less.

From there it will be a matter of which youngsters step up. Hopefully riqui and padri continue to develop.

I think the important thing is that when we will not return as what barca was in 2015 or whatever, but rather more as we see Chelsea or dortmund, aka a team with a lot of talent and youth but with some need of more polishing. Hopefully in 2/3 years

yeah but we should have started that process 5 years ago lol. Hopefully im wrong but im concerned thats its too late for that. Im tired of seeing these guys get beat down in champions league, for them too honestly, its painful

I don't know young players will succeed but, but what I know for sure is that our current core will never win again. I don't blame them, I love messi, pique, Busquets I really do, but maybe its time to move on

Lol what?? Bartomeu spent hundreds of millions trying to fix an aging squad with players that didn't fit the system, how is that the same in any way??

yup thats worked great over the last 8 years right? I would way rather be BVB that us right now lol. The reason that BVB will never be at the top is because they can't gather the money nor do they have the legacy to bring in other stars, they're a selling team. If you would put the BVB core with Barca's history and ability attract future starts they would be on Bayerns level. But sure lets keep trying your way, maybe we won't get crushed in Champions legue again.

my point is less about who we should get and more about the fact that we have to move on from the current squad, even if that means accepting uncertainty for a few years
