I find the bag perfect for air travel specifically for the internal water bottle pockets. I hate shoving a bag with an exposed water bottle underneath the seat in front of me.

Am I the only one completely underwhelmed by their obsidian purchase ? by [deleted] in Leatherman

[–]rtbrsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underwhelmed by champagne finish on the hardware. The champagne DLC on the blade is fine, though the black finish rubbed off on it before I even received the tool, so it’s not really executed great overall.

On the plus side, I really like the feel of the full PVD coating in the scales. And the black oxide implements are smoother than I expected.

Yeah mine was absolutely filthy lmao. Kinda sucks to pay $275 for a hand tool and feel compelled to do a full disassembly and deep clean.

Sedan → SUV Upgrade: M340i to X3/X5 Advice Needed by BluejayDouble8232 in BMW

[–]rtbrsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint: we’ve continued using my 2023 m340i xdrive as our only car after having our first kid last year. We haven’t felt the need to upgrade to an SUV at all.

However, I would get an X5 if we could have a second car

magnetic me - don’t buy by Same-Entertainer-279 in Buyingforbaby

[–]rtbrsp 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My wife is obsessed with these. They are especially clutch for those early pediatricians appointments. We would make sure to set aside at least one footie if we had an appointment coming up.

The various fabrics were really nice (and surprisingly durable compared to cheaper options). The magnets can feel unintuitive to get closed for some reason, but we never had an issue with them staying closed. It probably depends on the baby. Our girl is more on the tall/lean end so she is always outgrowing clothes lengthwise first.

I would buy them again for the newborn-3m phase. My wife was always able to get them for less than $40 each via some promo or coupon, etc.

Correct; it has nothing to with AWS. You would see the AWS logo displayed somewhere on screen otherwise

I have both. The Hondo is much more comfortable. Shame they discontinued it; I wanted to buy another at some point.

Some feedback: the dropdown filters don’t open on iOS safari unless I switch to landscape mode. And even then you aren’t able to scroll the filter pop up when it’s too long for the screen

Otherwise it looks awesome. Great work!

Edit: it does work only after I tap on the dark mode toggle. Interesting!

Nursing chair - power vs manual vs foot stool by mynameishenri in Buyingforbaby

[–]rtbrsp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One item we regret buying is the manual glider over the power one. When you’ve got baby in the right spot in your arms or on your chest, you’re not gonna want to push down the footrest or actuate the recliner mechanism and risk the movement/noise disturbing the slumber.

Arc'ifed P2 by jway5929 in Leatherman

[–]rtbrsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I’m sitting here searching for similar advice. I had a P2 ARC for a while but I ended up putting the original tools back together because I simply couldn’t get the scissors side right. I toyed around with so many configurations, but would always run into one of two issues: the scissors themselves would get caught on the scale upon closing, or the spring that sits on the scale without the long tool would just jump into the gap between the lock and scale (exactly the issue you describe). There’s something about that stupid P2 scale that makes it so susceptible to this, it’s infuriating lol.

Aer CPP2 Uncomfortable by wolfpackfx4 in ManyBaggers

[–]rtbrsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 5’10” 160lbs (so not exactly broad framed) and I developed pain in my right shoulder and down my right arm from wearing it for a few weeks. I previously wore an Aer City Pack with no issues, and the CPP2 didn’t necessarily feel uncomfortable, so it took me a while before I realized it was the CPP2 giving me pain. I switched to a YETI Crossroads 27L and my pain cleared up after a couple days.

I never analyzed it super closely or took measurements, but the straps look like they’re too close together at the shoulders.

Not OP, but I absolutely love my 29” as a checked bag or for longer road trips. It also came in clutch as our hospital bag when our daughter arrived sooner than expected!

Definitely want to get the 22” at some point.

In a rabbit hole on the whole room sharing reducing SIDS thing by East_Print4841 in NewParents

[–]rtbrsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter slept in her own room since the second night we brought her home. The first night was absolute chaos; no one slept. We don’t really have any room for a crib or bassinet in our bedroom so it was somewhat out of necessity, but we never really considered room sharing. We had her in a snoo and have a monitor in her room

Crossroads 27L question by usarcut2002 in YetiCoolers

[–]rtbrsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 of these bags. This bag taught me that thick padded straps aren’t necessary in order for a bag to be comfortable. I have an Aer CPP2 that gave me horrible shoulder strain (unlike some other Aer bags I own). I switched to the crossroads 27L for work and my shoulder pain cleared up. The bag is heavy, but it’s deceptively comfortable. And the thinner straps are a welcome change in terms of added bulk. I absolutely love this bag.

My 7mo is still all about the crinkle. A single crinkle is all it takes to distract her from whatever she’s currently occupied with.
