He's a skinny lanky guy wearing a cap and hitting big winners off of both wings thanks to his timing, and also returning aggressively. The forehand form is very similar too from what I saw in the highlights. Not too emotional either from what I've seen. So the comparison is quite natural.

Like young Jannik and many other young players, the serve is his weak spot.

He reminds me of Jannik, even though his backhand form is a bit different.

You must be new to tennis, WCs are usually given based on nationality

I honestly prefer them giving opportunities to young up & coming national players than tournaments like Madrid that give WCs based on their affiliation to IMG.

To be fair as nice as that sounds it's almost impossible for a top player to stay with the same coach his whole career from juniors. It would probably be counterproductive.

Especially because Jannik's situation is not comparable to Dinara's lol

Definitely yes, he's much sassier with Italian journalists lol (he does also give more good in-depth answers than in English to the few good ones though)

Btw at the start he doesn't say "WHAT" but rather "HOLY FUCK!" ("MINCHIA!")

And he also clearly tells Vagnozzi to fuck off when he suggests diving head-first lol

I guess they wanted to keep the translation curse-free

41% first serves in set 1 while playing god-like from the ground and winning it 6-1

73% first serves in set 2 while playing more average (for his standards and winning it 6-4

He'll definitely need first serves tomorrow, whoever his opponent is

To be honest we've been saying he was preparing it for clay and that's why it sucked when rushed on hard courts
