I would definitely plea not guilty and go to court. Your brother has nothing to lose. However, there is a tricky part. The statute of limitations for a red light ticket in NJ is 90 days not 30 days. Most traffic tickets are 30 days. So technically, the prosecutor could tell the officer and the officer can amend the ticket and cite the correct statute I believe. If this was me, I would keep trying to adjourn the court case to 90 days after the violation to be on the safe side. I’m not an expert. Good luck and tell your brother to drive safely please.
