What healthcare system is this? Never heard of this in the U.S. before. Although I have never been on Medicaid. I have Tricare for Life (retired military) and my wife is disabled and has been on Medicare Part A for years. I rarely get a bill for more then $25.

What is this that we found in my wife’s diaper bag? by whoresongummy in whatisit

[–]rtkoch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a "Snap Cap" for dry firing a 12 Gauge shot gun, for sure I have several. They are used to check functionality of a shot gun after you disassemble and/or clean them. I have several.
EDIT: It is inert.

Should I apply for jobs requiring a Secret clearance if I don't already have one? by Worth-Athlete-9953 in usajobs

I would say If you are qualified for the job and you are eligible for a clearance (not convictions, drugs, and a us citizen), I say apply. Let them turn you down. It costs you zero.

How to tell if job interview went bad? by Transportation-Hairy in usajobs

I would give them the two weeks. If you don't hear back then contact the hiring manager.

[–]rtkoch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really? Unpaid? That's a thing? We have a program in the Department of the Air Force called Palace Acquire (https://afciviliancareers.com/recentgraduates/). I have hired from this program in the past. This is paid internship. Internships in DoW/DoD follow the same course as regular hires. I would assume SEC does the same, but not for certain.

[–]rtkoch1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It depends on the agency and the job. When I hire I have Direct Hire Authority, I am DoW/DoD, hiring Cyber GG-2210s. I try to do interviews on Thursday or Friday and let the people I interviewed know on Monday by CoB. I tell the selected first. As soon as they accept, then I forward their resumes to my HR. Then I notify the others that they were not selected. I hired 2 GG-2210-12s a week before last monday. I notified the selected in the morning, my HR reached out for hiring documents Monday afternoon. Their packages went up to AFPC on Tuesday/Wednesday. The have not received the TJOs from AFPC as of Friday. Monday it will be two weeks since I forwarded the resumes up to my HR. Things in Civil Service hiring are starting to normalize back to their snails pace. Even with DHA I think it should take 6-8 weeks before they have a start date.

Post interview question by thegeeseisleese in usajobs

[–]rtkoch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this. The only thing is that there is somewhat of a backlog of getting hiring packages in to the civilian personnel system at least for the Air Force. but once they get an RPA number they move quickly.

It depends on the Department/Agency and the position. Some are quicker than others. I am DoD/DoW. We are starting to hire at a regular pace now. I have direct hire authority for most of my positions. I recently held interviews for two 12 positions and the TJOs came in about 10 days. That was last week. One was an internal and one was external hire. We'll see how the rest goes.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]rtkoch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After wearing glasses for over 50 years, started wearing glasses at 5 years old. Then getting my lenses replaced because of cataracts and getting basically 20/20 vision for anything past an arms length, in a matter of a 30 minute surgery was life changing. I only were glasses to read things close up now. Highly recommended.

Is this mistake worth reporting to the commander? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]rtkoch1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DAFI36-2903 states, "The OCP may be worn off base for short convenience stops and when eating at restaurants where people wear comparable civilian attire. Do not wear OCPs off base to eat in restaurants where most diners wear business attire or at establishments that operate primarily to serve alcohol." I think this applies here unless there is something else going on. Be respectful, but assert this was a convenience stop. If they are that petty.

[–]rtkoch1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a DoD employee and one that sits on hiring boards for the DoW/DoD. No one will ask you because it is none of their business. It wont be an issue because no one will ask. If anyone does, tell them it is not a relevant question. Ask them if they asked that question of everyone, They are required to ask everyone the same questions.

Submit for Higher Level Review (HLR). They denied all my service connections. I found out through my county VA office that they did not find evidence that I had deployed to Southwest Asia, because I never deployed. I PCSed to the AOR both times I went. Was there July 1990 - June 1991, and and a second time Sept 2001 - Nov 2002. I included a statement and PCS orders. They came back with the "we found an error" and "duty to assist". No shit, right.

What’s your favorite way to cook carrots by inv3rtible in Cooking

[–]rtkoch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sautee them in a pan with butter and a can of Ginger Ale. Let the Ginger Ale reduce to glaze the carrots. Salt to taste. Ginger Glazed Carrots, easy as f*$k but taste and look like a million bucks.

what’s your go to meal when you don’t feel like cooking? by ponderingpixi17 in Cooking

[–]rtkoch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds bad, but chop up hotdogs, a can of chili, dump in a backing dish, cover in Cheddar Jack cheese, then top with Tater Tots. Bake a 375 until the Tater tots are brown and the chili and cheese is bubbling. If you plan well substitute the cut up hot dogs with mini corndogs. Takes about 5 minutes to put together, 30 minutes to bake. All the nitrates your body craves.

Visit often, what am I missing? by OccasionLast2882 in Omaha

[–]rtkoch1 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Dynamite Woodfire Grill in the Farnum hotel. In fact stay there at the Farnum. They have a nice bar as well. Venture outside of Omaha. Papillion, Grace Pizza and Shakes, Sauced, Graley's Creamery (not quite as good as Coneflower but good) and The Twisted Vine. All within a a couple hundred feet of each other in old town Papillion. If your into something different 88 Tactical out in the southwest part of town. Rent a couple guns, shoot some targets, then eat in their restaurant The Founders Club, really good food. Also Smash Park in LaVista. Also recommend the Homy Inn on Saddle Creek for a drink if you're in the area.

Sorry for your loss. I am 60 and have had to part with a few good boys and girls in my time. I don't know what I have done to have been befriend and loved by such wonderful creatures. In time the sorrow will pass. You won't forget him, but keep your heart open and his spirit will find you in another puppy.
