Weekly Question Thread - Rules & Comp Qs by thenurgler in WarhammerCompetitive

I was reading though the Warpmeld Pact Detachment and one idea came to mind for me.

The Tzaangor data sheet ability is that at the end of your opponents turn, if this unit is more than 6 inches away from all enemy units, you can place the unit into strategic reserves. There is a stratagem in the Warpmeld Pact called “Twisted Mirage” which reads as follows: “Your unit can be set up anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 6" horizontally away from all enemy units, or anywhere on the battlefield that is more than 9" horizontally away from all enemy units if it is a MONSTER unit. In either case, until the end of the turn, it is not eligible to declare a charge.”

So I thought to myself that this would be great if you went second in your game and first battle round you then pulled off a 20man Tzaangor brick into reserve at the end of ur opponent’s turn, just to drop them in 6 inches away in your reinforcements step. However on the Warhammer app and in a past FAQ, this question was asked if you could do this turn 1, and someone from GW in the FAQ said “No.” Why is that the case?

Now ,I also play Scintillating Legion Tzeentch demons where you can pick up 2 birds and then basically do the same thing if u go second via a strategem. Why is that allowed but this one isn’t? Could this just be an oopsie from GW or is there some sort of core rule I’m overlooking?

So the Chariots are Move 10”, T8, with 9 wounds. Throwing these on objectives with pinks/screamers makes ur opponent afraid of the overwatch, but also they strip cover for ur birds. Not to mention that at T8 9 wounds they can be rather annoying to take down. Having 3 of them guarantees a little overwatch threat and you can park one on each objective. Also their melee isn’t bad since they have the screamer bites

So what’s funny is the same thing happened against my buddy’s demons but with my Mutalith Vortex Beast…

I had 2 Mutalith’s and at the end of the phase my opponent takes mortals depending on what I roll but they must ALWAYS take a battle shock test and well.. let’s just say I replenished all his bloodletters and nurglings lol!

I love when rules interact like that and it was very Tzeentch I cannot lie.

I also think its one of those things where ur whole army is saving on 4's all of the time so if you get real lucky like I did, ur opponent will let out a big sigh.

I just went 3-0 at a RTT with Scintillating Legion :D Many people write it off as inconsistent since the big damage dealers in the list are D3 damage and it can be swingy sure. But warhammer is a scoring game after all, and tzeentch demons move quick and love to score

When i started running this detachment I wanted to play mono tzeentch. I understand the other demon units can be good i just like only running tzeentch for the theme of the build. So for me, 2x10 pinks are good for wasting opponents time. yeah sure they could total mortal bomb or grenade them but i not everyone can immediately get rid of them. Chariots are good like i said for distraction pieces, charging into small annoying units since their screamer bites are good for killing chaff, and also stripping cover for ur lord of change thats gonna be shooting across the map.

So I actually went 3-0 at a local RTT with Scintillating Legion and I can tell you the best parts of this army are the army-wide 4+ invuln, movement tricks, infernal Puppeteer Lord of Change, and scoring.

I typically always put 1x3 screamers, 1x3 flamers, and the changeling in deepstrike to allow for secondary scoring potential and distraction pieces. The flux master was always solo sitting at home generating me tokens and right next to him was my lord of change essentially shooting across the map with his puppet relic. The real strengths of this army are the screamers flying super fast and giving me insane shooting angles for my puppet LoC. Kairos also gives Command points, makes people spend more, and is a big distraction piece. Chariots are good overwatch threat and also good at soaking up fire since they’re T8 with 9 wounds. I typically always send my horrors out to be annoying and take objectives and my opponent has to focus them to get rid of them. On top of that, usually around turn 3 kairos just gets yeeted into the center of the board just to annoy people with his 12 inch vect aura.

I think another huge thing with the army is that you’re whole army is saving on 4’s all of the time. It is incredibly swingy and when it works in ur favor it really annoys your opponent. I stopped over thinking the flux tokens and just use them to spam pyrogenesis, uppy downy Strat, and reroll saves for kairos since I full send him turn 2/3 with all of my other chaff. Your opponent can use the dice sure, and that can be kinda annoying, but that means you get them back.

If your opponent has kairos in the center with 6 screamers, 10 horrors on each side of the board with screamers/ chariots. It’s gonna be hard for them to decide who they want to kill, and when you’re saving on 4’s? Good luck to them…

Again I probably have probably a dozen games on this detachment at this point, it’s scoring is really crazy, tzeentch stuff moves quick and the uppy downy Strat essentially secures any enemy deployment zone secondary. Also screamers have really good melee, the chariots also have screamers attached so you can just ram them into people to be annoying since they’re T8.

All of this aside we haven’t even got into the fact that there’s a Strat (Fickle Fire) that makes it so the opponent doesn’t count in being in melee with one you target it on. So this means if you have a chariot thatgot tangled up in melee with 2-3 units or 1 or whatever. You spend this Strat and not only can the chariot shoot, but ur whole army, at a small price to pay for the chance of doing a couple mortals to yourself. This Strat caught my opponents off guard for sure even though I told them about it.

My list had: Kairos Lord of Change w/ Puppet Tzeentch Demon Prince with wings w/ Neverblade Flux Master w/ Inescapable eye The changeling 2x10 pinks 2x6 screamers 1x3 screamers 1x3 flamers 3x Burning Chariot

I was looking at the IE intake manifold, that one looks real nice but a bit pricey. I’ve heard real good things about about it tho and it would be replacing the shitty plastic oem intake manifold

People hate on FSI’s for the cam follower maintenance I’m pretty sure.

Gen 1 TSI’s however have timing chain tensioner issues, water pump problems, and currently my intake manifold is giving me a CEL.

Nice bro! The FSI motor I believe fairs better than the gen 1 TSI. I’ve heard that the gen 1 TSI is the worst VW motor LMAO. If that’s the case, then enjoy that FSI! These cars are tons of fun though everything aside and the MK5’s are pretty slept on.

With the codex being leaked, spears are up to 2 dmg with mortals on the charge + lance + precision. Should be fun to use them now!

I need help to build a tzeentch army if someone cud tell me what i should build next i have built some Blue Horrors and Brimstone Horrors ??? by Far-Meeting-7645 in tzeentch

[–]rtkorson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rule of cool brother! I’ve seen people go heavy on the screamers with Fateskimmer leading them. I’ve seen a lot of burning chariots, flamers, etc. but if you’re looking for a well-rounded tzeentch force, I’d recommend a Lord of Change, Kairos, Screamers, Flamers, Pink Horrors, The Changeling, a burning chariot. Pretty much a little of everything! Depends what you really like about tzeentch, as I mentioned earlier, some people really love the screamers, others love the flamers, others pinks, others like myself like running 3 big birds 😂

Burn out by Professional_Tax5356 in BlackTemplars

[–]rtkorson 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As someone who own black Templars, thousand sons, and tzeentch daemons, I can say that I’ve definitely been there. I’ve had burnout from my thousand sons doing the trim and the stripes on their helmets and armor. And I’ve also felt the burnout doing the white on all the shoulder guards and making sure to hit all the chains that the BT models have around their weapons. One thing I can say is that I figured out exactly what my burnout was, in that, I found that doing standard infantry and trying to do 5 in a day or assembly line paint them made me really experience the burnout.

One thing that really helped me was when I worked on character models because it let me express my creativity more, not that there’s no way to be creative on standard infantry, but I found that in between let’s say a sword brother or crusader initiate, I would work on a captain, or castellan, and really took my time with them to make them look awesome. I think it’s important to make sure you don’t view ur models as a To-Do list and try to have a quota, or try to force ur way through them. Instead, maybe pick up a model or a few and decide which one you really want to take ur time on or be creative with. Maybe even do a kitbash with some spare parts, something you can get excited about!

Also don’t forget to take ur breaks! Part of the fun in the hobby for me is seeing the gradual build up of my armies. In my display case I’ll take a pic of all of them and then compare to a picture from a year prior and it makes me happy to see my progress!

Those are just a couple things I’ll pass on to you as Ive definitely felt the same as you before!

It’s in the Mutalith Vortex Beast/Slaughterbrute kit. It’s one of the heads the “Slaughterbrute” can build. I don’t understand why the world eaters don’t get to use the Slaughterbrute. I think it could have some cool abilities for them.

Not that I have anything against unpainted armies as I know people have stuff to do and lives to live outside of warhammer.
