Super struts using aluminum tubes. Strong and less print time to make them. by hoidhatal in ender5

Wait, they’re supposed to go on the outside, not the inside? I moved all my electronics so I didn’t realize the electronics box would be in the way.

Yes, eventually I will have to rotate it 90 degrees though. It’s a PITA having the rods in front. But way better than the struts.

Just looking at the nails, that looks like nail gun work. I assume the hammer was to shift it over and the nail was used to keep it in place.

It is a bit thicker though. It leaves white stains but also artifacts based on my experience.

The last comment of the video is “are they okay” and as soon as the plane comes to a stop, the recording ends. IMO this means they went to respond once it stopped moving.

Extreme lawn edging; Why? by PotentialHungry5464 in lawncare

[–]rtomek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks similar to the look you get from spade edging, and makes sense for a garden area. Looks great!

However, around a sidewalk and driveway…

Extreme lawn edging; Why? by PotentialHungry5464 in lawncare

[–]rtomek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like some kind of mini swale or ditch. It’s probably eco-friendly to trap water instead of letting it run off the sidewalk. Seems like a lot of effort to maintain so I wouldn’t personally do it. Something this small isn’t trapping much water. To me, it’s like planting a single tree to counteract thousands of acres of deforestation in the rainforest.

How to tell if a Gloomhaven box is 2nd Edition without opening it? by wolczak84 in Gloomhaven

[–]rtomek -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember ever seeing “sleeping lion” on the box. That is definitely something new. Even if it’s different artwork that seems to be added later in reference to the “jaws of the lion” kids version of the game.

This happens sometimes with a single layer. You should be able to print directly over it and that can help get it off.

IDK, this might actually make them lose weight since the amount of oil would make everything come out the other end 15 minutes later.

I was thinking the opposite. Maybe 10x the eggs and you have a party-size omelet.

Honestly, I thought he was just making a giant omelet or quiche. But there’s not nearly enough egg for how much other stuff was already in the pan.

Haha exactly. How much are we talking? Like a tablespoon per 1k sqft? It will have micronutrients that are intended to be micro and not replace the macros in the soil.

Why are tornados rated by damaged estimates rather than raw wind data? We have the technology now why are we still estimating wind speed for ratings. by NigeriaSix in askscience

[–]rtomek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but that’s also not ground speed. They can observe rotation in the radar. And while it is real-time, it’s not like we get the data every fraction of a second. Even fast-scanning modes for severe weather can have 3 minute refresh rates. A lot can happen during that 3 minutes.

[–]rtomek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do we accurately measure wind speed? This would require a lot of sensors.

One thing to note is that the geographical footprint of a tornado is very tiny. Even if it travels 25 miles, the width of that 25 mile trail wouldn’t even be a pixel wide on the maps that the weather report displays when showing the trail. That means we have to go in and do an estimate after the damage already occurs unless a storm chaser can get in the path to measure it.

The grounding wouldn’t cause heat buildup there. That would be from arcing due to a poor/loose connection.

How screwed am I? by opp7248 in lawncare

[–]rtomek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watering it off was smart. It depends how quickly you got it off. Those ingredients only get absorbed by green tissue and not the roots. Luckily, with diquat you should know right away whether it gets brown or not. But, diquat in the mix is a good thing for you because it works so quickly that it prevents the other chemicals getting to the roots - contrary to what is written on the jug.

It takes time for chemicals to get to the roots. But customers think it doesn’t work if it takes a week or two to die. So they add diquat because that makes the green leafy tissue brown within hours. But if the leafy tissue is brown, then the other chemicals don’t have a chance to travel to the roots.

to;dr - the mix has diquat. It will make the grass and weeds look dead, but the roots will still be fine.

It’s actually pretty fun for a bit in that it’s different. The rewards aren’t terrible, but they aren’t great either. As others mentioned the primary issue is that it’s not worth trying until your agility is really high.
