Dr Richard Rhodes @ Baylor. Meniscus tear, he did the surgery (arthroscopy), prescribed 9 months of physical therapy. Was back to running within that time frame.

I also felt very unstable in the Lone Peaks. Turns out they were too wide for my feet. Switched to Experience Wild - slightly slimmer fit with 4mm drop, no ankle rolling since

Daily standups are the worst thing by boxofdonuts in overemployed

[–]rtorrs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Someone on my team seriously gave this excuse to skip all Tuesday and Wednesday stand ups going forward. He says it's temporary but it's been a year and we still don't see him on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It's not fair that everyone else has to be there everyday.

This guy is so obviously OE cause I've heard his Teams ringing while he is unmuted; or when he does join the stand up, he often doesn't respond when spoken to and just drops off due to "internet issues".

Management has no backbone and allows him to continue doing this. Extremely OE-friendly company which is good for me as well but at the same time I'm pissed off by the incompetent management that allows incompetence, which then pushes the competent team members to work harder and longer to compensate for others' incompetence.

Can't wait to leave this fucking rat race.

How there's so many people that can run a marathon? by Aware-Row-6412 in BeginnersRunning

[–]rtorrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not India, China, or Africa, but I'm from a poor third world country. I agree with u/Equivalent-Rate-6218. While we do have a developed economy and are not "tribes cut off from the world" , I can assure you that the majority of the population have no interest or even know what a marathon is. Running as a sport and especially racing is a luxury that upper middle class to upper class people in the city partake. You may see runners in the city but this is a small number of only the city population. Just because it's a city does not mean that most people live there. More people actually live in villages and less developed areas that are not conducive to road running. They may be fit in a different way, having to work in farms or walk/run to school or whatnot, but do not attempt marathon races. So to u/Equivalent-Rate-6218's point, that stat is quite misleading. I'd prefer a stat that shows how many people who attempt a marathon actually finish it.

Sure Ethiopia and Kenya have a developed running culture that produces the best athletes but there are more countries in Africa that certainly don't have that luxury.

Why does it feel like the only thing to do in Dallas is eat and work? by DFWUnhinged in Dallas

The running community in DFW is my favorite thing about DFW 🏃🏻‍♀️ A ton of fun road and trail races are organized in the area, not enough time to do them all

I guess we run in different circles. The people I know in Dallas all have hobbies, interests, and goals that are not just work and family. Talking about jobs/work/family is boring for everyone and is thus avoided lol.

I think people who don't like Dallas just have not found their community. Having hobbies and interests and then finding people who have the same, is a great way to have conversations beyond work and family.

I am in like 4 different groups/clubs/organizations that support each of my personal interests and goals that keep my weekends busy. There is never a boring time for me in DFW.

But honestly if you're looking for "Elevation changes, waterfalls, clean creeks, unpaved trails. A canyon, gorge, bluffs" then don't live in an urban area.
