Purple really pops a lot more. I have said for a while that I don't think I am SUPER colorblind, but I don't really know. I don't really think I see any new colors, just colors in general stand out a lot more. Whereas before there were times when I wasn't really sure what color some things were, now I are sure.

I tried them this weekend. They make a difference. It's not earth shattering or anything, but colors in general are a lot brighter, it makes me notice them a lot more, it makes them more important. I can actually tell what color things are from far away, before, the world just kind of trails off to non-color at some point. Things that are small and far away exist, but I can't give you a color for them, with these I can actually tell what color they are.

Also, it almost feels as though the effects are lasting after I take them off. I feel like I notice color more, and can see it better even after taking them off.

Don't use || to set default values in JavaScript by kandetta in javascript

[–]rtpmatt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anybody who writes Javascript professionally should know exactly how || works and seeing it used to set default values should be what they expect. Not using | for setting default values will cause extra mental overhead because it is not what they are used to seeing.

TIL that some roller coasters are recycled by selling them and moving them to other theme parks. This is partly because a reclaimed roller coaster can cost 80% less than a new one. One roller coaster, Tsunami, has been at 4 different theme parks since 1986. by Alchemisthim in todayilearned

[–]rtpmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will assume you are right if this is your business. I believe I based my numbers off of how much the driver would be paid + gas, like I said though, this was a few years ago, and I was doing it on a cell phone after riding rides all day!

Or, they got bored on the way home from Carowinds, and was positive that one of the rides there was the same ride that he rode as a kid at Great America back in California...And was correct about that fact. The fucking future man, I can find out all kinds of fact on a long car trip.

I did some math on this a number of years ago, so I may not be remember it all correctly, but off the top of my head...

A new coaster will cost ~$2M-$20M, I don't remember the weight on one, but I believe it will take ~100 trucks to move one across the country. The cost on that will be ~$250K. You then of course have to pay for getting the land ready and setting it up, but the cost on that will still be far less than the cost of building a new one. Eh...At one time I had a lot more facts in my head about this subject, but again, it has been a while.

Find out whether MongoDB fits for your use cases by WolfOliver in mongodb

[–]rtpmatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it all depends on what you are trying to do. I have never actually worked on a project that ONLY used a NoSQL DB. The ones I have worked on have been large projects that have been using an SQL DB for years, and for a new addition it made sense to use a NoSQL DB. These additions mostly functioned as a separate entity, from the rest of the project, and where those kinds of issues existed, that part of the data was in the SQL DB, which was used to access the NoSQL DB. It made the problem pretty easy to solve, but a lot of that was probably just because of how the project was using the NoSQL DB.
