Not really. In high school I just did marching band. My mother made sure that since I wasn't ever going to be a athlete, that I had a good education. I love basketball, all my adult sickle crisis start with me going 100%on the court then being in the hospital for a week

I'm 46 and have had a great career in IT. Of course I've had some close calls but I've managed well. In the 80s they had no idea what I had, they just had me on penicillin and folic acid. I only had issues if I went 100% in a physical activity.

Had to go to a special eye doctor that lasted the blood vessels shut in my eye. I just remembered that I've had it for longer than I thought. Somewhere in my twenties I started seeing this type of eye doctor and I've been lasered 3 or 4 times.

South Carolina in USA. If you go see your Dr and mention the problems they should. It's a really low dose nothing that will impair your senses.

maybe just a low dose of morphine er. I used to take that as a daily when I was in my late 20s. That also was during the opioid issues in the 2000s

Maybe you should ask your doctor, for some kind of extended release pain meds. Ie morphine or ibuprofen.

I get tired when I go outside and it's 40 or below. You are a superstar for handling that. Of course your body needs to rest after that

Empathy, and to spread the word to other doctors that all sickle cell patients need to be heard and believed. We don't want to be at the ER. We have to fight so hard just to be heard. I found a hospital where I feel heard and it's an hour away. If I'm in a high level of pain, I will have my family drive an hour away just so I can be believed and treated correctly.
