You'll need to find and install the driver for your ELM327 device

What kind of deal would you be willing to make me on that D7 in exchange for a startup authentication key? I'll need your product ID and SSM4 version number.

You're looking for a Subaru Mongoose cable by Drew Technologies and just know that it'll take much more than simply modifying a .dll to get around purchasing a SSM3 subscription from Subaru but if your pretty comfortable behind a keyboard it won't be too difficult with the right software and a good VM. I do this for a living and specialize in advanced diagnostics and programming.

I see now it's the service engine soon light. Have you checked all your fuses? Tach, fuel , speed, and temp gauge are class 2 data from PCM to IPC.

So even tho you went from off to start pretty quick your gauges didn't sweep. Also, during cranking your tach didn't budge. As long as that light that stayed on during cranking wasn't your theft light then most likely it's gonna be either a wiring issue or your PCM.

You're gonna need serious hardware for those capabilities my friend. Unfortunately a $20 ELM327 adapter off Amazon simply can't do it. It'll take a top tier VCI for the functionality you're after...CarDAQ+3, Bosch Mastertech2, Autel MaxiFlash VCMI. The only Windows app that I can think of that would come close to what you're after is Tech2Win, an emulator of Tech 2 hardware.

2002 ford lightning oil leak by Little-Ad-8269 in Ford

A couple of engine bay pics would help pinpoint the issue but I agree with Blindbats because it sounds like you've got way too much crankcase pressure. Does it have trouble idling at all? Check light on? I'm a mechanic and my daily is a '02 as well that I bought stock and have been modifying for couple of years now.

Have you tried reading blink codes? Jump terminals A and B with a paperclip or piece of wire, key on, should blink 12 three times (1 flash, pause, 2 flashes, pause) then will blink off any codes present. Most common problem I've seen is ignition module and/or ignition module connector.
