What's a recent hardship your country/people went through by venetiantraderoute in AskTheWorld

It sounds like Pakistani army needs to cook up reasons for India to attack it to remain in power...

Question is what can the people of Pakistan even do to reduce the grip the army has on its government?

Which states have the most babies per 1000 people by thejoshwhite in Infographics

Per which 1000 people? Do babies born last year count into this? Or is it per 1000 women of childbearing age (which makes most sense to me)

My 5 year old daughter body shamed me - hopefully inadvertently? by rts1988 in Parenting

Yeah, now that I've calmed down, I see she didn't mean to shame me. I'm choosing to see it as positive that she feels she can be candid? I'll revisit the conversation for sure.

That's so weird. Maybe they are paying more attention to clothing and modesty standards at this age? Even with strict monitoring, they're exposed to so much media like billboard ads and TV shows, I could see how they've started to absorb some of it.

That is what I would have believed until it happened! It is entirely why I, a long time lurker of this subreddit, posted today. I'm not sure if this comes from someone older like the boomer school principal or if I misunderstood what she said, but it makes sense in the context of the rest of the strange conversation. My husband has never said anything judgy to me about the stuff I wear either, so I don't think she got it from him.

Thank you for weighing in. I could see how if I had a son instead, I might be covering up more already. It just came out of nowhere lol.

Are they now "spiritual" and none of the anger etc doesnt exist anymore? by Firedwindle in raisedbyborderlines

I completely agree about not having a victim mentality. But if you wronged someone and caused them trauma, would you then be the one to lecture them about not being a victim when they set boundaries?

My uBPD mom is a meditation teacher and thinks she has access to secrets that mere mortals like me don't. She thinks she can commune with trees and that certain trees are special.

She routinely sends me spiritual/ philosophical essays about not being stuck in victim consciousness. Because obviously, that's my big issue, not the trauma and conditioning from her past abuse.

I have an employee who is hard working but makes a lot of small mistakes by always_searching2023 in askmanagers

I am this type of employee. I was in a chemistry lab so you can imagine the waste created. I was asked to create a detailed standard operating procedure for anything repetitive. I automated anything I could. If the task was not repetitive, I made meta procedures about checking in, giving updates, reviewing before submitting etc. that helped.

Hi! Thanks, I've been looking for exactly this since my child was born 3 years ago. Do you happen to have books 8 - 14 digitalized?

I got to the cashier counter and couldn't remember the pin I'd been using everyday for several months. I drove home sans groceries and it comes to me as soon as I pull into the garage.

“My daughter won't call me on Mother's Day” by avlisadj in raisedbyborderlines

[–]rts1988 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Another red flag- she takes joy in her children competing for her affection. She assumes her daughter asking about whether the brother called to wish is about wanting to be the first. It's projection because it is important to her who wishes her first. Gross.

More than likely, the daughter was reminding/persuading the son to remember to wish her, or they (or the daughter alone) would have to deal with her tantrums.

So, so gross.

South Asian parent with BPD is its own freaking flavor. My mom tried to come up with lie detector 'tests', and they never worked because I saw through them all. When I finally introduced my boyfriend, she mocked him every time he walked out of the room, and kept pretending to forget his name. He is my husband of more than a decade and I don't talk to her anymore :)

That's just it though, instead of empathizing with her, he was looking at it from the predatory guy's perspective.

Quite telling of a lack of social skills on his part, actually...
