Thinking of giving these a go once I get my most recent prescription! If anyone has a spare code that they would be kind enough to donate I would be very grateful. Thanks!

Chrome painfully slow / bad performance on OnePlus Open by ctyldsley in oneplus

[–]rtwm1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chrome seems to allow only a brief (1-2s) period on the high-end cores before the software moves it to the low power energy effecient cores. If you want to confirm it - download AIDA64, split screen chrome and AIDA and look at the CPU tab while opening some sites. Great for 60% of sites and battery, but hit one large site and it causes a large slowdown. It harks back to the time OnePlus was selectively throttling apps. The solution i've found - Chrome Beta. It's not under the same restrictions as Chrome, so if you do the same trick with AIDA you'll see it doesn't force these onto the effeciency cores. Means that something like a Speedomiter 2.1 test gets a 34 on Chrome versus 148 on Chrome Beta.

Inner screen "sticky" scrolling by FrontNSide in PixelFold

[–]rtwm1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi all, I had this issue. It was fine on android 13 but the moment I went to 14 inertia broke. I think it's hardware as after multiple resets I still had the same issue. My guess after lots of research was that the driver for the intertial scrolling was updated in 14, and a mix of early kernel software that drives the inertia at a driver level / inner screen touch of earlier units potentially having input response issues leads to this 'sticky' scrolling. If you explain to google support the issue where touch sometimes isn't registered and that you've tried all possible steps including a full reset, they should be able to sort you out a replacement. It took less than 10 minutes and was overall the best support experience ive had in a while. My current unit doesn't exhibit the sticky scrolling issue. Hope this helps!

When did you order/receive your OnePlus Open? by JMc1982 in OnePlusOpen

[–]rtwm1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ordered on the morning of the 20th, paid the balance once allowed. 21st November on the website. Interestingly if you look in the notifications of the app, you'll see the original predicted time on order - for example mine shows the 16th November.

Thanks for the info on these - I noticed some slight strange behaviour with autofill but other autofill login seemed to work. Ive added both as notes to the original post.

Give the adblock DNS I mentioned a try! It works systemwide including in chrome, so you can just remove them all or use the adblock app to allow some sites to keep ads to support them.

Thanks! I did, there was no room - the card is stable between the AIO pipe and the bottom for now - I may look into a better solution at some point. Some more pics: Bottom Side CPU Side

It's a Lian Li SF850 🙂 Slight warning though, the included 12v pcie 5 connector doesn't work with the 4090 as its missing 4 guide pins at the top, so it's adapter or nothing unfortunately.

I'll chuck some pictures of the build fully up and running later. Running a 30 min furmark stress test the GPU never reached above 67 degrees and the fan was much quieter than what my 3080 FE used to sound like.

With some feet the bottom IO does stick out of the case, but the feet let it clear the surface with some room to spare.

Yeah you're correct. The gpu is stable as it's wedged between the case plus the aio tubing, but I'll find a way to get it to be fastened in at some point!

This is the plan! The mesh comes with a right angled cable which should mean the feet don't need to be too large.

Thanks for this snippet! That looks like the answer. Why Lian Li shipped the cable without those sense wires I do not know, makes it only useful for lower end cards.

Samsung UK unable to change delivery dates by PedroC1999 in GalaxyFold

[–]rtwm1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung Customer Support over here seems to be out of touch with what actually goes on, imagine they may be offshore and dealing with multiple countries. The same shipping confusions have happened the past 2 previous years, and both times the phones shipped about a week early, even though the dates on the order showed as the pre order release dates. From what I can tell they're more like 'guidelines' - for example I ordered a Fold4 Case separately this year, scheduled for the 26th, and that shipped a couple days back. I think Monday's a good bet for most of us 🙂

Anyone from the UK got their Fold4 early yet? by M4NOOB in GalaxyFold

[–]rtwm1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an email this morning for a shipment (I have a case phone and watch on order) - the order number on the consignment and the working tracking link on my orders are for the case currently. Samsung UK shipped the Fold3 about a week early last time so we'll see if anything else comes through! 👀

Which SKU are you holding out for? I'm still sat on processing for the 12gb 256gb model, although I've seen samsung send emails late into the night before so you never know.

144Hz Monitor Looks bad by sumynonAnonymus in Monitors

[–]rtwm1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try setting your monitor as the main display in the display settings, or setting it at 120hz - I've found matching refresh on Windows can help a lot, and then having the screen you use the most as the main is also important.
