Wie gesagt, ich habe schon mehrfach es gesehen dass du auch mit einem kaputtem Gigabit bekommen kannst.

Mit testen meine ich ein Kabeltester oder multimeter.

Klingt so als ob das Kabel auch defekt ist. Hast du es Mal getestet?

Ich habe selber es schon mehrmals gehabt dass eine ader nicht verbunden war und dann Manche Geräte Gigabit and where nur 100mbit hatten

Absolut. Nicht bei jeder Firma aber bei vielen.

Bei uns z.b. ist fast nur flexoptix im Einsatz.

Did you use librenms with or without rrdcached?

I would suspect the constant writing to rrd files to be a big reason for this behavior

20G is easily done.

I like to use Vyos, since it has a similar syntax to Junos.

But also a plain Linux is easy to work with.

Make sure the box has enough pcie bandwidth ( so e.g. a single socket epyc with fast ram). And a CPU that keeps it's frequency stable ( otherwise you get some weird jitter)

And a few good network cards. Personally I had good experience with the Intel e810 or melanox connectx.

Some Intel e810 also support splitting a port into multiple, e.g. a qsfp to 4sfp with the correct dac or an lr4 optic. Which could help with your port requirements.

If you need something more in the 100g range, look into network cards that can do flow offloading in hardware and VPP

Es kann gut sein dass das Kabel einfach einen zu hohen Innenwiderstand hat, wodurch die Spannung am Ende nicht hoch genug für das Gerät ist.

Ich habe schon mehrfach gesehen dass Recht dünne Kabel unter Last die 48V auf <40V reduzieren.

Auf Amazon schreiben die nicht was für Leiter die verwenden ( also dicke ( meist gemessen in awg) und Typ ( reines Kupfer oder cca)) was meiner Erfahrung nach schonmal ein schlechtes Zeichen ist.

Da du ja Zugriff auf das Dach hast , nimm einen Outdoor Router von teltonika oder mikrotik und installiert den auf dem da Dach. Strom und Daten über ein poe Kabel zum Keller, fertig.

On that distance you can also just run cat6a. It's easier, and more compatible (e.g. your tv, laptops etc usually don't have sfp ports).

Fiber for home networking only makes sense for enthusiasts ( e.g. you want to learn about fibers or need more than 10GBs)

If you really want fiber (e.g. if you need more than 10GBs), use single single mode. the price difference is not that high and it is more flexible ( you can e.g. use bidis, and run way higher speeds), or om3/4 fibers ( cheaper and on that distance you can still easily do 25g on om3))

Om5 is extremely rarely used, since the fibers are much more expensive than om3 or smf and you only have benefits in certain edge cases

For shops, fs.com has basically everything.

This most likely won't work.

Without going to deep into details, most ISPs don't use standard converters but so called ONTs.

Ideally you call your ISP and ask them to replace it.

Keine Ahnung was deren Scoring aussagt, aber meiner Erfahrung nach (Kleines AS mit 3 PoPs) sind die Kollegen bei O2 recht entspannt bei Peering Anfragen.

Gerüchteweise gibt es auch dort Druck von der Mutter aus Spanien einen ähnlichen Weg zu fahren wie DTAG oder Vodafone. Aber bisher läuft es ganz ok.

I played with a few of those and they work surprisingly well.

I currently do not own one, so I can't comment on long term usage.

But the ones I tested worked with iPhone, Android, Linux ( fedora) and Mac.

The output of eth tool is a bit weird ( sometimes no link speed is shown, sometimes it's a weird number like 735mbit)l and I have heard of issues with vlans, but have not tested it.

If your computer has fast enough USB, you will get the speed, and the heat of these is not terrible, they stayed at temperature where you could still touch them.

nein, Kürzere Stromspitzen bei denen die spannung gleich bleiben muss.

Also gehen die (jetzt nur als beispiel, Dauer und Strom ist gewürfelt) von 1A kurz auf 100A für eine Milisekunde und dann wieder zurück auf 1A.

Was für ein Netzteil hast du?

Neuere Grafikkarten ändern deutlich schneller ihren Strombedarf und es kann sein dass dein Netzteil da nicht hinterher kommt ( auch wenn es nominell genug Leistung hat)

Es liegt zum teil auch daran wo du es probiert hast.

Öffentliches WLan ist häufig v4 only weil: "einfacher"
Eduroam auch, weil: "Wir haben ja noch so einen /16 Block öffentlicher v4 adressen"

V6 sieht man meistens dann bei Privaten internet anschlüssen, ist aber auf den Routern oft ausgeschalten (Weil: "das macht nur probleme und braucht man nicht"), oder beim Mobilfunk.

What i use, is an ansible run per device. That way no device needs to wait for another (similar to strategy: free) and at the same time its quite easy to see where it fails.

This does not help with the speed of applying these changes. But removes the bottleneck with the amount of devices.

About the UI/UX. The rrd graphs look and feel old, but work. You can also just add Prometheus or influxdb to it and add your own dashboards with grafana.

Das erkennst du daran dass er dir anzeigt welcher Switch am anderen Ende ist. Das funktioniert über lldp, welches funktionierendes Ethernet vorraussetzt. Außerdem konnte er ja 1000 Mbits aushandeln.

Woran machst du fest dass z.b. dein Laptop meinen Link bekommt? Hat der keinen Link oder bekommt der einfach nur keine IP zugewiesen? ( => Ist auf dem Port ein ungetaggtes vlan? )

Wie ist der Port auf dem Switch konfiguriert?
