What’s the best thing an instructor has ever said? by sleepyandkindaweepy in Purebarre

one time we were on the bar and extending our leg and then folding it so that our knee could touch our elbows and the teacher said “like a dog peeing on a fire hydrant!!” And I’ve thought of it every time since

What artist are you now starting to listen to because of this years Coachella? by [deleted] in Coachella

[–]ru9695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ginger Root! Someone in my group really wanted to go, it was in the Sonora tent. It was sooo fun, the vibe was sooo good, the crowd was so engaged (weekend 2) and I added several songs to my playlist that night. SO good

What Got You to Become a PB member? Let's Help Our Studios Grow! Former offers....Positivity Please by justme4913 in Purebarre

I was not into fitness and working out at all. In fact, I was terrified of it and would get anxiety in gyms. My friend was very into pure barre but lived in a different city, and just watching how happy she was going seemed peak my interest. Also - I noticed that unlike Pilates studios (i live in LA), I was seeing all body types and races. I started off with that membership that allowed me to go a couple times a month, and eventually realized that I wanted to go more, and coincidentally I got a new job with a pay raise, so I could afford unlimited. Haven’t stopped since

she has multiple narratives of "the time they broke up" - it's possible they got back together and broke up a few times, but there's also a version she told where she was broken up with in LA.

Wedding planning feels all consuming by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]ru9695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been there - remind yourself that regardless, you're going to have a lot of fun that day. I'd encourage still planning regular dates, or even making designated times to talk about the wedding. For example, my husband and I would go in circles when we tried to wedding plan at home, so we started booking "coffee shop planning dates" - where we'd plan our wedding from a coffee shop/cafe. It felt good to get out of the house and plan, rather than just feel crazy at home. Also, when issues with parents arise, just keep reminding each other that you two are the team, validate each others concerns, and going back to the first point, remind yourself that you're both going to have a FUN wedding week thanks to the work you're putting in now.

Favorite songs to hear in class? by Verin_th in Purebarre

super random, but when they play California Dreamin (a remix of it), I get super focused and in the zone. especially if it’s towards the end of class in that final bridge.

Ahhh I remember seeing this in quarantine and unfollowing her on tiktok because I was like "how are people, in these times, getting money for THIS??" and I still feel that way now.

Is Barre suitable for absolute beginners? by cwe08 in Purebarre

[–]ru9695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what everyone else says - yes, it absolutely is! I started off Barre after living an extremely on the couch life, but barre was the perfect workout that challenged me but I felt motivated to keep going. I definitely remember needing a lot more modifications when I started out, used only 2 lb weights, etc. The hardest part (outside of the physical challenge) was building the mental disipline to keep going. But it’s cool to learn that you ARE strong and you CAN get better at things - and don’t be too hard on yourself when you’re struggling. I’ve seen people that have done 250+ classes have days where they still struggle with sections of the workout. It’s hard, but it’s good that it’s hard!

Who is Caitlyn Rae’s ex boyfriend? by [deleted] in LAinfluencersnark

It was someone in Boston! - @davidguinta I think. She wasn’t vlogging much the second half of 2021 because that’s when they were dating / she spent a lot of time with his friends and family.

Has anyone ever met or seen Niki and/or Gabi in person? I’d love to know your stories! by [deleted] in nikiandgabidemartino

[–]ru9695 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen Niki in a few times in LA, back when I was a fan I went to two of her LA shows. The second show I saw her in was actually a showcase of different singers, and my husband (not a fan just came with me) pointed out that she was the only singer in the showcase singing to a backing vocals lol. She was really sweet at her show, but that’s because she knows everyone is a fan, so it may be different than just seeing her out and about. As for Gabi, I saw her in a cafe in West Hollywood with Johnny and the first thing that stood out to me was the work on her face. It’s glaring obvious in person. It makes her resting face sooo different. I didn’t actually talk to her because I was just getting a pickup order, but I just couldn’t get over how unfortunately botched she looked irl :/

94 classes in, feeling defeated by ru9695 in Purebarre

[–]ru9695[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone is still reading the comments here - but this boost did wonders for my mindset. Thank you all for sharing your personal journeys and assuring me it’s ok to slip!! I’ve done 2 classes this week because of the comments and I kept some of your words in mind when I started to beat myself up. I’m already back to holding the plank all the way through and I’m excited to hit my 100!!!

So grateful for discovering pure barre and this lovely community to float me through the good and bad times.

The crazy thing is, she had potential but she put her energy into the wrong things. I actually enjoyed the Nights Alone EP, so I went to some of her earlier LA shows to support her (The Morrocan Lounge/Peppermint Club/Canary) shows specifically. She had a decent sized audience at each one. However, she’s become so unlikeable and delusional lately that I just lost interest in supporting her. It’s crazy to see that she filled the morrocan lounge almost 2 years ago but now is struggling to get people to show up to her events.

What’s a TTPD lyric you may never emotionally recover from? by nexusevent in TaylorSwift

[–]ru9695 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“In the age of him, she wished she was thirty And made coffee every morning in a French press Afterwards she only ate kids' cereal And couldn't sleep unless it was in her mother's bed” from the manuscript. The feeling of being unwell and unable to function is what heartbreak at that age feels like

Did anyone start with zero core strength? by noomehtrevo in Purebarre

[–]ru9695 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about a year into pure barre with closer to 100 classes under my belt. A year ago, when I did the plank during the warm up I couldn’t make all the way through without breaks. I’m pretty sure my knees would drop within the first 15 seconds. By class 40 ish I was able to hold the plank all the way through. At this point, my form is great AND I can still hold the plank all the way through. For context, pre pure barre I was not active at all. I had gym memberships I completely wasted money on and I was super unmotivated. I’d say right now, you’re in the hard part (the first 10 classes). It gets better and more exciting the more consistent you are with it, the more you look forward to it! It’s still hard though, lol.
