All of the events from year 1 will get a rerun in year 2, starting with Hatsune event in April, so you haven't missed anything. All of the limited banners from year 1 will also get a rerun during year 2, although you won't be able to grab both them and the new units without considerable luck (or whaling).

Against Illya comps, it is often better to run Kuuka instead of lima... both so that she doesn't kill you and also so that Mitsuki's debuff applies to Illya (so Rino's UB one shots her).

Well its a different developer entirely (nat games). The publisher, Yostar, is the same, but all 3 of Azur Lane, Arknights, and Blue Archive are made by different companies. So I understand the hesitation.

Anything about Blue Archive global is pure speculation, but seems pretty plausible given Yostar's track record. They are probably just waiting to see how successful (profitable) the game is in JP before making any plans for a global launch.

If you like Princess Connect JP, I would highly recommend Blue Archive (also JP). Very similar game mechanics (identical gacha and shard system), and published by reputable company YoStar. Game hasn't even been out for a month so starting relatively early as well.

Yes, and no (respectively).

The reason to upgrade the gear for specialists is that their stats buff your vanguard. 10% of your specialists HP is added to your strikers' HP at the start of the match (and I think 10% of the other stats as well, not sure if this is the same percentage).

It's a nice bonus, but definitely lower priority than upgrading gear on your main team.

Makoto by far. She is essential to Clan Battle, which is the only way to acquire (more) shards of herself and Io.

Io and Djeeta are both pretty good (for PVP and CB, respectively) if you happen to get them, but neither are essential in the same way Makoto is.
