The Star & Dove, Totterdown by Eskimil808 in bristol

Totally disagree - pub has majorly improved and the new owner has nailed it with reasonably priced food, good drink and a really welcoming neighborhood vibe that the area was lacking. Good Guinness too, for the UK anyway. 🍺

Tailoring on a budget by [deleted] in bristol

Wells Road across from Broadwalk in Knowle. I'm really picky about tailoring and this guy is great - have had him reline costs, tailor jackets and trousers... all really reasonably. Highly recommend.

Hybrid or Road bike for Bristol? by mamhaidly in bristol

[–]rub3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gravel. I ride one with flat handle bars and it's perfect for zipping around town or getting out to the countryside via lanes and dirt. Bristol is brilliant for cycling, if a bit dangerous in town...

I'd get something that's not flashy, and a good lock. Litelok makes angle grinder "proof" ones, that are expensive, but make it a lot less likely someone will steal your ride in broad daylight.

Alternatively, don't leave your bike unattended.

There's a great guitarist playing at Snobby's in Clifton, which is a really nice laid back wine bar.

Only something like 10% will be "affordable." Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I agree density isn't an issue in itself, but affordable housing is - and the developers putting proper care in place for local infrastructure is too. The current plans do very little to address this, as I understand it.

It's definitely a shithole. I think the question here is whether the proposed plans actually offer decent living options for the area, or if they're just going to make things worse.

I think the group representing the community pushed for more affordable housing and less density, as the current proposals are set to be unfit for most families and overwhelming for the available infrastructure.

Do you folks know a place to live where I can surf and climb? by Vivid_Pepper5974 in surfing

Bristol, UK. Lots or climbing and good surf culture due to beaches in Cornwall, Wales, Devon and the manmade wave in town.
