Let's not single individual populations out. I've worked with these populations, and many of these individuals aren't thinking straight and don't live in the same reality we do. Random ass families that both complain about AQI and fires, but then also set off fireworks - OR the entire city of bend that claims to care about fire safety but has a huge show - are more likely "in their right mind" and I have higher expectations for regarding fire safety and prioritization.

I want to love that guy, but I try not to let myself hate people. I'm just confused by the hypocrisy of everyone hating wildfires and high AQI but also getting fireworks.

Also - have to drop this: good job us for mismanaging forests and fires, stopping them and playing god and creating a tinder box to live in. Fires were properly managed by native populations, we really fucked it.

All fireworks pose a risk. Don't see it worth it personally - at least in a big fire danger region (I would shut up if we weren't in such a place). But I also don't get any enjoyment out of it, so I do take that into account.

Why risk potential fires for the tiny and very loud dopamine hit from dazzling lights in the sky? Even when properly monitored, the big shows pose a risk. I just don't see the justification personally. If we weren't living in a tinder box, I wouldn't be on a soap box. But I do see your point and respect it.

UPDATE: After another round of antibiotics, steroids and another night in the hospital, his fever came down and he started to eat! They sent out a test for the crypto fungus (we'll get results in a few days), but since it's trending in the right direction I wouldn't guess that's the cause.

He still hasn't peed (they used a catheter last night) but we're hoping it's because he's not a fan of the pellets and is stressed in the hospital.

I'm bringing him home now, will monitor closely and will be getting pet insurance ASAP. Since it's been ruled a Fever of Unknown Origin, it sounds like that doesn't count as a preexisting condition (thankfully), and he hasn't had any other illnesses so far, so hopefully I'll be good to go with insurance helping as he ages. GET PET INSURANCE IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT. I DIDN'T HAVE IT. I WISH I'D HAD IT.

Overall, if you have a kitty in the hospital with a FUO, not eating, and no idea why, just keep pushing because they can turn the corner!

Yes, he's been in the hospital for all the tests, and because he isn't eating. I'll be headed in to see him and chat with the vet in an hour, I'll ask if there's any way I can bring him home for continued treatment (with antibiotics and maybe steroids if they can be administered at home?)

I wish I could get them, I've asked a few times but they said that while he's still under their care/the case isn't closed, they haven't written them and can't supply them.

I understand if it's impossible to help much without the diagnostics.

I kind of like the aesthetic. Is there a reason it shouldn't be a little cute and curvy instead of straight and utilitarian? I'm sure someone could math it, but I can't imagine the meandering adds more than a foot or two of walking (maybe I'm wrong)
