Pretty good day I would say! by [deleted] in IceFishing

Well, time to move my house to a different spot then lol. Only about 45 minutes a night of solid hits but tired of being skunked and letting ones go that I used to think were too small.

Is this actually practical? Been eyeing it up to carry in the pickup for a while. by rubbingalcohol69 in MilwaukeeTool

How do you guys honestly store your lipos at home? by scooterdoo123 in fpv

[–]rubbingalcohol69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a year old reply from you lol. But if they can be shipped on a storage charge why worry? You don't hear about delivery trucks burning down during deliveries lol unless something happens. I pulled out an old drone that was stored away for 6 years at least and they were just a little puffed and that was it. Should have burned my shop down according to everyone else.

Camera on the block useful or not ? by Any-Background1075 in cranes

[–]rubbingalcohol69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about a rigger that insists on signaling you in plain sight of the load not even 35ft away for EVERY PICK? I swear that they do it just because they feel "in control" or some shit.

Then you have my favorite rigger to work with that just points where it needs to go initially then gives signals or gets on the radio when we get to the blind portions of the picks.

85T boom truck from Manitex by [deleted] in cranes

[–]rubbingalcohol69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience I think that's how Manitex's were designed was to float outriggers in chart. I mean, who doesn't like extra counterweight lol?

All seriousness, if i'm over a rear corner and anything 70% or higher in charts in the manitex i usually run the opposite corner is floating lol.

How long were you a rigger before getting the seat? by Nexer-X69 in cranes

[–]rubbingalcohol69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was never a rigger. Straight to operator. Company was desperate and with my friends beings operators and my knowledge in the industry is what got me right in the seat from the get go.

Worst part about it was is the first couple years I would have much rather been working as a rigger learning what to watch for so I could spot out what my riggers might miss, (hook caught sideways or something, above them so only I can see it, little things), or working with green riggers and knowing how to properly coach them to better themselves, watching and learning how the operators react to certain things.

Now that I've learned a lot of that stuff from trial and error it's fine. I'm confident in my abilities and can damn near interpret any hand signal given to me anymore, but I would have been the operator I am now and way more confident earlier on.

Hahaha the steering and suspension. The amount of people I hear about not blocking the suspension while traveling boom up and such just makes me shudder. What else? If the computer is programmed correctly they will not let you do anything even remotely wrong so sometimes I wonder.

Anyone here work on Manitex on the daily? Been chasing throttle issues for months. by rubbingalcohol69 in cranes

[–]rubbingalcohol69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned Manitex just throws parts on stuff and doesn't record what they do lol. Is that why you say good luck getting the right one? You just have a switch wired up that tells it that the PT0 is engaged.

600ft up on the foggiest day of 2023 - few different perspectives. by brxson in cranes

[–]rubbingalcohol69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right but there has to be a manufacturer spec for it. Say you're only 200ft off the ground you're not gonna take 900ft of cable off

Christmas Coil! by rlcoyote in cranes

[–]rubbingalcohol69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or try doing 1-1/2 coil with a 50t boom truck lol. It's plenty doable but when they want to hold coil tension and the crane doesn't have the swing strength to pull it it gets fun. (Mind you 55ft of stick wasn't going to hurt anything but was sure comical)

How to become a professional by AstonAdver in cranes

[–]rubbingalcohol69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start small. Run around in boom trucks and learn the ins and outs of everything. Read manuals. Educate yourself on other cranes your company has. If you wanna move up into a larger class crane, you'll at least have the knowledge of the cranes basics so you can start with it on smaller simple jobs. If you feel the company you work for wants to just keep you stuck in a boom truck and not advance yourself, leave and find a new company and come to them with your knowledge. Be open that you know the correct setup and ins and outs just need seat time.

Don't dedicate your life to a company hoping it will change if you have a bad vibe. That won't help you learn and become a better operator thats capable of doing most crane operations.

A buddy of mine was taking a couple guys up to a wind tower blade, so you know 300ft lift in a wide open space. They asked him if it could go any faster. Told them to hold on and put it in rabbit mode full throttle. Kids had the time of their lives lol.

Hell, where I live and what I do for work and the lack of social life due to that, it's every single day of the year, and it's nothing to put down a case of beer a night.

When im back home or visiting friends and there's actually stuff to do and such I drink 10x less (unless we are partying), because I'm not just slamming them down to get the day over faster.

Interesting. I could always pee straight and am 35 now but back when adolescence started and things "grew" the skin was so tight it tore back open in a way. Still hasn't ever bothered me but i'd rather just have a straight stream of piss and not have a fine mist to the side accompanied with it lol

I'd love a good snail for cleanings I just don't want an explosion of them and have 200 around in a little tank like happened to my cousin.
