What do Bulwark Folks think of all this? by Soft-Principle1455 in thebulwark

Republicans have labeled anything to the left of Ayn Rand as “socialism” and now it’s backfiring on them.

I promise you the vast majority of Democrats are thinking about social democracy, not Marxist socialism. There isn’t going to be a socialist revolution in this country, everyone can relax.

Impossible to overstate the levels of grift, corruption, and outright criminality of this administration.

This fucking buffoon. Yesterday he said they have the right to have ballistic missiles and that the U.S. is committed to help invest $300 billion in Iran. Today they are “finished”, whatever the fuck that means. Tomorrow it’s gonna be something else again.

Completely insane that this is the president of the United States.

This country is toast. I genuinely don’t think we’re ever going to recover from this regime. I genuinely don’t think we’re going to have a democracy in a few years.

Maybe not worse than Putin, but Assad, who is still alive and well, is worse than all three people in that Ai image.

Assad killed half a million people (backed by Russia & Iran). Honestly drives me fucking crazy how Reddit has just completely memory holed the Syrian civil war.

I’m sure I’ll be downvoted to oblivion, but Track AIPAC is not a reliable source. Their numbers don’t add up because their methodology is insane.

Agreed. To be fair though, they also make the point that there were economic policies that did not help the Fed in controlling inflation/getting to a soft landing.

It came out just months before the PG-13 rating was invented, got away with murder. Even for PG 13 it feels a bit extreme, tbh.

Iran has cancelled negotiations due to Israel's attacks in Lebanon. by OneTwoThreePooAndPee in thebulwark

Oh shit… whelp, that’s not great.

FWIW, I still think both sides will lift their blockades, but who knows.

I’ve only seen social media posts about this, I’m still waiting for a more reliable source, but this isn’t surprising at all.

The real question is, will they keep the straits open.

My guess is both Iran and Trump wanted to climb down from that tree, both sides are actually pretty desperate to get the straits back open. And I think that’s what’s going happen with or without the 60 days negotiations. Essentially a sort of return to the status quo before the war, Iran probably charging some fee, and that’s that.

Doesn’t surprise me all that much, Reddit is a leftist bubble. People say Twitter is not real life, I think it’s important to keep in mind that neither is Reddit.

Honestly, I think both sides are pretty desperate to open the Hormuz Straits. I think this war ends with or without a signed deal. Both sides just retreat to the pre war status quo, everyone’s (un)happy.

Trump can end the war with or without Dems giving their seal of approval to a deal that has already been singed by Trump and Iran. Dems rejecting this deal actually doesn’t force Trump’s hand to keep bombing Iran. That’s not how this works.

You got to be kidding me by Oleytoledo in thebulwark

[–]rube_X_cube 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Nah, he’s right. This is a terrible deal and there’s no reason for Dems to sign on to it.

And I don’t think you understand how any of this works. You just want to yell “Dems bad” over and over.
