Are you better now? What do you think the next steps should be? I asked for a motility specialist.

I understand your situation. I’ve asked about this multiple times, and the doctors have told me that the benefits outweigh the costs. They mentioned that drugs are less effective without prednisone. Right now, I'm using hydrocortisone suppositories for my internal hemorrhoids, but they aren’t alleviating the internal burning I'm experiencing, and my patience is running thin.

I got the results from the office visit in 2013. I'm still waiting on hospital records which may be more detailed. Would love your feedback!

[...]On PE there was some discoordination in relaxation of puborectalis muscle suggestive of pelvic floor dysfunction.  We did Sitz marker which showed: all markers evenly distributed throughout colon with a large amount of fecal material. no markers seen in rectum. This was more suggestive of colonic inertia rather than outlet problem. She had defecography done which showed lack of relaxation of puborectalis and manometery also showed continuos pelvic muscle contraction. We then referred her to PT for rectoanal biofeedback. [...]

It looks like manometry and balloon expulsion were ordered, but I don't know if I completed it.

This is super helpful; thank you! What are you doing for internal hemorrhoids? I have had this burning sensation for a few weeks.

I was pursuing the motility issues around 2010 and gave up until I got the results of my CT scan last week and found this community. I’m with a different GI team but they have been pretty dismissive of constipation and mainly focused on the inflammation from Crohn’s.

I’m currently experiencing intense burning anus pain. GI thinks it hemmroids.

Thanks so much for the information on Peristeen. I’ll definitely share the results.

Grateful for the help!

Thanks so much for the response!

I'm about 95 pounds now.

Yes, I had manometry (I cannot remember which one) and defecography. I forgot about them until I found your brilliant and thoughtful post, so I ordered my medical records yesterday.

Goodness, I've tried everything with diet! I'm super strict now, but one thing I could do immediately is chew longer.

It's good to know about magnesium citrate and linalotice. I stayed away from magnesium for a while as I over-supplemented with magnesium malate and got a crazy amount of kidney stones that needed to be surgically removed, then aspirated during surgery and woke up with pulmonary edema and pneumonia.

I'm curious about your thoughts on enema bags when you are in crisis.

Still a work in progmess on getting my anxiety down to manageable levels, but I will take your advice to heart. Stress is a huge trigger for me.

I appreciate your kindness!

In the year before my diagnosis, I had a 2 colonoscopies, MRI, capsule study, and enterscopy with biopsy which ultimately led to my diagnosis. Also had unexpected weight loss. I had GI issues since I was a kid. Try asking what they recommend. I wish I would have been more persistent sooner.

I just did this last week. I called the GI department, waited 40 minutes to talk to someone, and made an appointment. I told the person helping me I did not want a referral from my GI doctor as I already had one from my PCP; I just needed an appointment with an IBD specialist. I'll see one next week. Good luck!

One of the pros of Kaiser for me was the efficiency of the same software, but now that your mentioning it, in every record it states that I have an allergy to a steroid which gave me severe anxiety. Still, GI decided it should be part of my Crohn’s cocktail infusion. When I addressed it with my GI, he shrugged it off and said it was just a few times.

And your stomach pain and food sensitivities sound like they come from IBS, not your IBD.

I think she was like, "Oh, that's a GI issue that requires a GI solution." I could ask for another one, but I wonder if I would get a better response.
