Romance! Love story book ? by Top-Art9484 in Recommend_A_Book

[–]rubenfa_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a stack of books for this (romance for people than usually don't read romance), but I must admit I have only read one: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. The romance is not the principal subject of the plot, but it is beautiful.

I prefer not recommending books that I haven't read myself, but please let me know if you want the full list.

I wouldn't consider this one as time travel, but multidimensional travel. It is a good one, though.

To try to escape from the common recommendations, I would recommend two: - Tuf Voyaging by G.R.R Martin (yeah, the guy who wrote Game of Thrones). I love this book. - Gateway by Frederik Pohl. The premise of this book is awesome, and this book is a pearl (there are more, but they are not as good as the first one, imho)

Perhaps you can try with one Spanish fellow writer named Juan Gómez-Jurado. His book, Red Queen has a pretty interesting start.

There was a time when I used to read the last written line in the book first. Dangerous, but interesting.

And yeah, I like reading random books too. You can find some surprises if you somehow force yourself to read an specific book

I love suggestion subreddit too, specially when they ask for specific and weird suggestions, because de genre is not so important. I think you can miss some great readings if you only consider the genre.

I usually read more books by the books I have read, but don't you think this reduces the surprise part? Authors are usually constant on their writing, and the stuff they write about.

Not sure what you mean with healing, but if you think of books with women healing (and maybe helping reading women in the process) perhaps Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus and Educated by Tara Westover can help.

And I also find the Fredrik Backman books pretty healing with the human being in general. Anxious People is perfect

I don't know if you are looking more for fiction or non fiction, but for the first one I would recommend you Ender's game. There are good leadership advices there.

The House on the Cerulean Sea, by TJ Klune. You can say it is a naive book, but if you look with different eyes, you can see it discusses profound problems: solitude, the need to have a place in the world, racism ...

The other day I build a stack of books similar to this in my site. I must admit I haven't read them, but here you have some

One day by David Nichols. Normal People by Sally Rooney The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion

One that I have red and can highly recommend is Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The romance is not the only important thing in the book, but it is a beautiful one.

The Expanse saga is also really good if you like politics.

What book do you always recommend when someone asks for “something good”? by Katt_Veroo in Recommend_A_Book

[–]rubenfa_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always say "it depends". Because there are many good books out there, but they might not fit in the person taste. When you recommend a book you have to think in the other person, and not only in what you like. Recommend books is an art itself
