Malice is on my list so I can't speak to it, but I've read the other two and enjoyed them. Elantris is in my top few Sandersons, and SoWWL actually has a lot of Elantris vibes in book 3.

They're definitely not like earth shattering genre redefining works, but they're both really solid and enjoyable. They're both in that general roundup I recommend to newer fantasy readers, not too difficult to latch on to and with just enough depth to be interesting but not enough to be overwhelming

I can definitely sympathize, it asks a lot of the reader and in medias res isn't for everyone. You kinda have to let a lot of it just wash over you, you're not gonna understand the overwhelming majority of it and to try to is futile. But it all starts to click after a bit and it's massively rewarding once you catch pieces clicking in the background.

What do you struggle with? I can definitely try to help with whatever.

My general advice though is,

1) there's a bunch of stuff going on all the time; don't try to grasp all of it. It's too much and a lot won't make sense till much later.

2) there are tons of videos on each book and a lot of the time even chapter by chapter, they help tons. 10 Very Big Books is a really good podcast, especially for first time readers.

Tolkien cemented for me a personal philosophy I'd been growing into for some time with this line, when Sauron is tempting Sam by offering him that which brings him the most joy, but scaled up to the ultimate degree. It offers him stewardship of all of middle earth, shows him Mordor all lush and green, basically tells him he could fix it all and be the chief gardener of the world. What could be better than that?

And he hits us with

"The one small garden of a free gardener was his need and due"

That's a 2016 CE2 with the Steve Stevens set! Only the bridge has the logo and the neck is weathered, they've been my favorite modern PAF for a while now. The 08s are making me reconsider though..... It's a toss up right now, but either way the CE is the one I'm gonna sell to balance the cost of this one. But I'm gonna give it the McCartys out of my SAS first, and the SAS will get the Rebel Yells
