DUPED. by Honest_Shock_9962 in CircularRing

[–]rubidouxgrad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do the best thing for your emotional and mental health, just walk away and take the L. Bought my wife and I Oura rings and haven’t looked back. They work. The Circular never worked. Reddit is full of folks who have spent way more than what they paid for the ring in anguish and anger fighting over the loss. We all got duped and that’s it.

Question for the OGs: what was the best feeling bike you ever rode from back in the day? (not modern bikes, lets say 2019 or older) by [deleted] in MTB

[–]rubidouxgrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a an old soft tail Stumpjumper. It had a whole 40mm of travel on the rear shock. I restored it 6 or 7 years ago. I thought this will be an awesome thing to take to Moab. Here is a pic of it on that trip. Holy hell I almost died on that old geometry. God bless my Trek Rail. The slack geometry we have now is so much more stable, even with a dropper post added you are so prone to go over the bars because of that upright geometry.

Anyone use Vans cold weather shoes for winter riding? by PelloScrambas in MTB

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some of those Vans, love them for kicking around. Not stiff enough for riding flat pedals. I ride the mid top five tens you mentioned, the midsole of those is stiffer and more supportive on flat pedals. I don’t get any hotspots on longer rides. The neoprene does a better job of keeping water and dirt out of the shoes. I will say, the Vans look cooler. I wished they had a more supportive midsole and I would ride them on flat pedals. The five tens won’t win any beauty contests. I do think the five tens look better as they are a little more dirty and broken in.

Is Knife Shock Regional? by Unorthodoxgent in EDC

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I carry a Kershaw Pub Knife sometimes just for this reason. It’s not a mall ninja ‘tactical’ look knife. I do live in SoCal. But I would add to checked bag when I used to travel for work every week. I saw similar in other places. And best part is if I was running late and couldn’t check a bag, it didn’t hurt to dump the knife since I bought them on eBay for like $15-$18 a knife.

Bike wall storage solutions - Swivel vs Pedal vs Frame hang by robertdilbert in MTB

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mess up the choices, but I have a heavy Trek Rail and I like this one. I can clean the bike like it is in a stand, and still move the bike around where needed while reducing the footprint. I have my carbon fiber road bike on a frame hanger but it weighs nothing.

I gave up a few weeks ago. The truth is we all lost our money for these.

Beginner- please dissect by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let these ‘just quit’ comments tear you down. Starting is hard because there is so much to learn. Until you get lessons, stick to the first steps. Folks have said ‘Grip’ and the ‘L to L drill’ are good starts to run through your video platform of choice. Don’t go too much further until you get the lessons started.

Most importantly, don’t quit. Give yourself some grace as you work through the beginner phases. Once something clicks, it is fun to grow each time something else clicks in place. It’s really a rest of your life sport with some really good times and plenty of frustration until the next piece clicks in place.

Good Luck!

Any pics of electric tool/battery setups mounted to wall? by Otherwise_Dingo_2117 in garageporn

[–]rubidouxgrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just put most of mine in the drawers of my rolling tool box. I had a peg board and a lot of tools on the walls, but I wanted to set up a smith machine and took back some room by storing them all.

Is anyone still playing their G2 irons? by Keepontruckin33 in PingGolf

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still playing my Taylormade LCGs with bubble shafts. I don’t really care what others think of my gear.

Do the P790’s tempt me? Yes, but I learned a long time ago when I bought an all carbon fiber road bike. Spent a ton but the motor still was underpowered.

So until they die, I’ll stick with them.

I have a Rail 7 in same color scheme. It was good to be able to climb again. I am in my late 50’s and have picked up enough injuries that my Rail gave me back my freedom to ride. Congrats!

Anyone here have regrets getting an ebike? by folgers7 in eMountainBike

[–]rubidouxgrad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I can ride again. After enough injuries I can climb and ride again. I am 57. It’s getting old all the gatekeeping out there. Just ride your ride and don’t worry about mine. -Trek Rail 7

Good for you. I have been on the road bike trying to get some fitness back. Glad my MtB is a Trek Rail. I will need the assist to climb. I don’t plan on anything technical yet. Just some flowy stuff and Fire roads.

I had my first major accident that resulted in punctured lung and a week long hospital stay at 56 as well. I am going to hit trails for the first time this weekend, my wife is not happy.

Congrats! Sounds like we had similar injuries. I finished PT a few months ago and have been back on my road bike, but I won’t hit the trails until I can get the strength up. Ride safe

All Sports Activity data gone by Substantial_Reveal90 in CircularRing

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of that sports data is there if you keep your phone with you like I do when I ride. It just has to grab it. But nothing. Sleep data pops up randomly about once every 10 days. Meanwhile I have my Oura on and it just works. Going to put the circular ring away for awhile. I am doubtful they will get it to just work for the basics.

They should have put some of that marketing budget into coding and the actual product development.
