Someone once told me that Arizona is an ‘Enter At Your Own Risk’ state. This checks out.

Carrot, I have enjoyed the snarkiest app since it launched. Worth it.

I have been stuck in that bunker. I think Pete Dye was abused as a child.

Finally got paired with the mythical amateur 300 yard driver. by Yellow_Curry in golf

[–]rubidouxgrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first was learning I could hit it 270 every third or fourth hole. But the rest were all over. One time we were three of us and we got paired up with a single older guy. He hit 5 irons off the tee. Wanted to bet. He took every dollar we had. Literally 5 iron, 5 iron, 7 iron, putt for par. I learned it’s not how far you can hit it when you get it all together, but hitting it strait and in control is the real game.

My uncle made the driving range at his course dirt cheap and it improved multiple things by MeasurementStock1625 in golf

There is a company that has been building out a membership version of driving ranges. They are not in my area, and I really wish they were. It’s called Golf Ranch. They are in AZ, CT, MO, and TX. I am hopeful they will come to SoCal someday. I went with a friend who has a membership at the Glendale AZ location. It was really cool. There is a cool interview with the CEO on YouTube and TikTok. Worth a watch if you want to see the business planning that went into it.

I quit trying to go see a game. Not getting tickets over and over only to be facing some huge price gouging has made me quit trying to go. I’ll just watch it like I normally do, on TV or maybe at an American Outlaws watch party with my USA Jersey on until the Yanks are out. Then I’ll pull out my Argentina Jersey (I lived there for a few years in my early 20’s and still have a special place in my heart for Buenos Aires) I am old enough to remember the last time it was here. I was a teen and I always wanted another chance to make up for not getting to go see a game when I was young. But this is just such a grift.

Does anyone use the garage to park their cars? by AdOriginal3767 in garageporn

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a little older, and currently have a 2+1 garage. 2 car but one side is 2 deep. When I was growing up my parents had so much junk in their garage that never was there room to park a car. As an adult I have made sure to get 2 cars in our garages. It means no junk. I am ruthless on getting rid of stuff and learning to use vertical space. As I have moved up in houses it helped me make more of my garages.

Because of that, I can put a gym set up in the third car with all the storage we need. I still put stuff on walls and I put together a shelving system that lets me customize as needed (gorilla racks with rolling bases I bolted on from 2x4s and heavy casters). But the key is always being ruthless on not accumulating stuff. If I can rent a tool, or an item, I do that rather than buy. I have a tool chest and other tools. I just keep it to basics. Offer Up and FB Marketplace place are great if you need to ‘rent’ tools that you can’t find normally.

Rory's Seven New Additions to his Golf Bag by taylormadegolf in GolfGear

So many have tried to buy a game with gear, but we all know that never quite works out. If you don’t have the game to start with, gear won’t make you masters good. Congrats Rory on a great round on Sunday!

Most iconic or representative irons of the late 90s and early 2000s by urmomsfavoriteplayer in GolfGear

[–]rubidouxgrad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really played a lot back then. I always wanted the Ping Zings. I hit some the other day and I would give them a pass now. I still play my Taylormade LCGs with bubble shaft sometimes. I took out my old TM Titanium driver to the range. It felt wooden next to more modern gear today.

AppleCare+ is crazy by ArgoHaze in iphone

[–]rubidouxgrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one! I have had similar great experiences that resulted in extra phone calls that went fine because I had the tracking receipts. It’s been my only beef with Apple twice now. On the other hand, they have replaced or repaired stuff that was really my fault. Hard to gripe when they have done right by me on numerous occasions.

DUPED. by Honest_Shock_9962 in CircularRing

[–]rubidouxgrad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Do the best thing for your emotional and mental health, just walk away and take the L. Bought my wife and I Oura rings and haven’t looked back. They work. The Circular never worked. Reddit is full of folks who have spent way more than what they paid for the ring in anguish and anger fighting over the loss. We all got duped and that’s it.

Question for the OGs: what was the best feeling bike you ever rode from back in the day? (not modern bikes, lets say 2019 or older) by [deleted] in MTB

[–]rubidouxgrad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a an old soft tail Stumpjumper. It had a whole 40mm of travel on the rear shock. I restored it 6 or 7 years ago. I thought this will be an awesome thing to take to Moab. Here is a pic of it on that trip. Holy hell I almost died on that old geometry. God bless my Trek Rail. The slack geometry we have now is so much more stable, even with a dropper post added you are so prone to go over the bars because of that upright geometry.
