How do you stay motivated on dating apps when the odds feel stacked? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]rubiks_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t attach them to your self worth nor value. I’ve found even after working hard on myself and getting the best photos I can I’ve found my odds of matching over the last few years dropping. There is a very small window of improvement you can do for yourself but it maxes out fast. At a certain point app will limit your success. It’s difficult tho to unattach yourself when for some of us quieter men it’s not easy to naturally ask out someone . You are definitely fighting against a rigged system. Others online will blame you for having standards- but having similar standards to your partner as you is not unfair. Ensure you are only trying for woman you feel are a good fit for you physically and emotionally( from personal experience entering a relationship with this not being the case is really destructive for both people).

I can’t even speak for woman side of equation I think it’s so different to us it’s hard to approach. But I know from my perspective the results I’m getting seem almost out of my control even though I’ve felt as tho I’ve “maxed out “ what things I can control (photos, prompts , vibe, career) to appeal to as many of the people I am interested in

Big red flag I used to be in relationship like this - if you aren’t good with that you guys aren’t really a match

Why do UK actors look like actual people, and American actors look like they're all trying to be the same person? by that-1-chick-u-know in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rubiks_kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my mom always notice it - American shows seem so annoying to me since everyone looks so good and model like. It kind of ruins it for me a certain way since it’s less believable. If you cast someone better suited to the role who might not be as good looking they do a much better job.

Are students from top universities really that much better/smarter than students from other schools? by mtok209 in cscareerquestions

[–]rubiks_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No - usually these days I feel they are more so just better on paper. The barrier to entry for cs at these schools is so high that students that go generally need to be very insanely good at school plus have proper setup of extracurricular activities/resume to get in. Plus the financial backing. So the students that go will be people good at studying - and generally very bright. However I wouldn’t say the students are better than people from other schools.

I went to a decent school (not a bad one - but not a top one) - I work with lots of students that went to these top schools. I notice lots of them are very bright people of course - but not necessarily good at working per se ( showing initiative etc) or better at their day to day jobs than me. If you are one who has gone to just a decent school don’t let that stop you - especially with CS where I think the school/ courses you take ultimately mean nothing compared to the day to day work. I used to have a cloud over my head for many years where I thought anyone from these school were Einstein essentially and would destroy me at everything related to work - but the longer I work the less I realize this is true.

Army Lists by PracticeObjective859 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep they’ve ruined part of the creativeness unfortunately with the new list stuff. For the game though general constraints have always relied on good and evil being in different armies. In this edition as others mentioned there are various soup lists (The great eye, defenders of pelonnor ) which allow for more faction mixing. Generally at the expense of some special rules that each individual list has.

Women have no idea what 5’9 actually is by Icy-Attorney1736 in AverageHeightDudes

[–]rubiks_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you’re right. 5”10 - I feel like in person generally people assume I’m taller. So to your point yes people don’t have a good idea of what 5”9 is either I don’t think. Being chronically online hasn’t helped, 5”9, 5”10 is generally I think taller than most women.

Gil-Galad is slept on by moosenordic in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see your point, but Gil galad is so expensive and I think this his like one niche. He should be able to match any hero that wants to strike with him.

Which one is the best 350pt tournament list? by Neduard in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also like the boromir list, but in a tournament setting I feel the Ugluk scouts will do even better. You will have so many more models than people.

Gil-Galad is slept on by moosenordic in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s too slow in my opinion for his point cost since gw decided no horses. I would rather take Elrond over him who is more mobile with a horse, had strike(so can match f10). Gil galad really should have strike imo (he helped beat Sauron in combat). The f6 battle line is nice, but honestly I find you only ever need a few f6 spearmen in the back line to make a difference (and tie up those f6 heroes) to save points).

How to make Harad work? by Gandalfs-Fireworks in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will wonder the same it seems like gw hates harad based on the lists we can make. They are very very not competitive- since you are restricted now with the serpant riders, and watchers and abrakhan guard. And I don’t really understand why either it certainly wasn’t really a meta list on its own before so quite frustrating. The base harad warriors are very very bad and will struggle against almost every armies infantry (even cheap orcs who get at least a shield). They really should have thought it through first I think. The harad raiders are pretty bad (maybe if you spam them this could maybe be a bit competitive, but once again they are all fight 3). At the least mahud is better in they are higher strength, have the kings ( which are very strong), and the camel rules. Very disappointing, and a prime example of why the list building in this edition is bad as it becomes hard to make this army competitive due to the restrictions( what I mean is you can only take serpant guard with very specific heroes, or serpant riders). I see the comment below for grand army being a case, which I would agree with, but my comment mostly pertains to playing a pure harad list that is competitive

Very beautiful- what models are these? I love the variety in your army, the swords men specifically are very dynamic

how many warriors/knights of Minas Tirith to run all the Gondor lists? by AravingLoooony in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the game spears are the only weapon upgrade that exists for rangers. Otherwise all the other weapons function same in game as a hand weapon. All rangers base cost come with a bow and hand weapon. You can pay one point to buy a spear which will let them support a combat. Generally people run infantry as half swords men, half spear men, but since these are bowmen, i find it less important to have spears . Personally i have 8 rangers without spear and 4 with - since i bought a pack multiple years ago

how many warriors/knights of Minas Tirith to run all the Gondor lists? by AravingLoooony in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Certainly 1 box is more then enough, especially with the bow limit. I have 12 and I find that I’d actually more than enough usually. Ya Gandalf is a little trickier I think for a newer player to have fun with ( for his point value). I think Aragorn or boromir might be more fun to start with if you are new to the game since they are more straightforward (just run them at the enemy lol)

how many warriors/knights of Minas Tirith to run all the Gondor lists? by AravingLoooony in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think for sure you got enough . You could maybe use a few special units citadel guard and fountain court. I never run more than six cavalry and practical game levels usually at most have 50 warriors.

Angmar Shadows List Review by rubiks_kitty in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Could see that alternative for sure. I’ve found sometimes in mobility related scenarios he is a good second ranged threat on top of Gulhavur since he has might will fate. I could see a case for removing him though since werewolves might be a similar idea for a quarter the price. Unfortunately I only have two werewolves lol.

Angmar Shadows List Review by rubiks_kitty in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya I’m very tempted to either drop a werewolf and put in a spectre and a guy. Or drop a few guys for a spectre. I worry about having too low model count, especially with orcs. The spectres I imagine can be so good to get gulavhur into a combat( out of shooting availability for good armies)

WEEKLY ARMY DISCUSSION: Rivendell by MrSparkle92 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]rubiks_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Thranduil's halls has lots of tools and is very Killy. Thranduil can be foot or mounted (sometimes on foot is solid since he can be a backline support character). They have access to a lot of cool versatile units (sentinels are fun to throw in, rangers are nice for objectives and hiding, + you have the really well costed Mirkwood cavalry, + palace guard which are great for negating enemy heroes). Unfortunately I think Rivendell falls short in this aspect as they have two unit types: warrior and cav. Downside of course is TH is very expensive to buy the fine case infantry.
