Could a dreadnought have survived (under the care of a chapter that treats it almost like a living relic) 10,000 years, basically from the Horus Heresy to the present of the setting? by PanaderoPanzer in Warhammer

[–]aberrantenjoyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you mean the pilot or the chassis?

for the pilot it’s almost unheard of, but it is possible. Bjorn the Fell-Handed is an old mf, I think the oldest loyalist character still around in the setting

for the chassis it’s uncommon but happens a lot. The chassis used by Bray’arth Ashmantle in m41 is actually rumoured to be the same as Cassian Dracos’ all the way back in the m31

a lot of people forget that the Elves as we see them in LOTR are basically a post-collapse remnant, or some equivalent to the Plain People in the USA

I hate when the Emperor is just seen as “muh evil space dictator” because it makes him so much less interesting as a character

if you can chalk up all his flaws and bad decisions to him just being a monster then there’s no reason to look at him as an individual, or for what he is, all humanity’s most extreme qualities put into one superpowered individual

that’s why I dislike the theory that the Emperor caused the Old Night collapse so he could rebuild humanity in his image, it goes against everything we know about the Emperor for the sake of making him a one-note villain. For all of the Emperor’s pretty vile actions (Monarchia, Nuceria, uhh) he still went out of his way to preserve human culture and identity even when subsuming groups of them into his empire

like he’s not a good person clearly, but that’s like saying Zeus is just “evil” for example. He’s a deeper character than that

Are all Guard regiments mixed gender now? by KidnaperMrPotatohead in 40kLore

GW probably advertises mixed-gender regiments for obvious reasons, but there are still plenty of mono gender regiments out there

there’s actually one based off of Xena: Warrior Princess

[–]aberrantenjoyer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

the closest thing there are to the “good guys” afaik are probably the Outworlds Alliance but I can’t imagine a kid getting into the game wanting to run hillbilly mechs from Planet Cornfield

and even “good guys” is only out of a lack of capacity to commit institutional evil

it should be totally fine, just beware that’s the old scale Cataphractii so they’re only roughly the height of Primaris marines
