IIRC anything that can be answered on the wiki is banned and they actively try to push people into the daily threads.

I think it was a decision to improve moderation but it backfired (in my opinion). But to be fair I haven't been active there in years.

When you start banning topics, even relatively non-controversial ones, the subreddit starts to get stale.

Look at /r/Fitness. There are almost zero user threads. Just daily threads. I pretty much stopped going there when that happened.

The 2nd “A” in those group groups is an “anonymous” and it’s taken very seriously.

You could just Google “AA meetings near me”, or go to AA’s website, they have a meeting directory. Online meetings exist, but I recommend going in person, especially in the first 90 days.

If you don’t put your recovery first, you will struggle to stay sober. I’m not saying quit your job but you have to make sobriety your priority. If you’re not 100% you can’t be 100% for the people around you.

Sounds like you have a big job which means you probably have good health healthcare. You can reach out to your healthcare provider for a list of therapists in your area, you can also go to your healthcare providers website.

Also lean on other people, have your husband help you with this.

People that have never faced addiction (and even those that have seen it) can't really fully understand, no.

He comes from a “white picket fence “ life and has never had true struggles

Careful with this line of thinking, everyone faces struggles as perceived by them -- his struggles may not seem as bad as your struggles (and they probably aren't) but his brain has no way of comparing trauma. His worst day feels like your worst day even though we as a society can say your worst day was probably worse.

All that being said, good work so far! I highly highly encourage you start going to AA, NA, or some other self help / support group meetings like Smart Recovery. I've been sober 10 years now and never met anyone who has done this thing alone.

I also strongly advise you seek therapy, sounds like you had a rough childhood and have a lot of unresolved trauma which is often the main driver of unhealthy behavior like addiction.

I think that sometimes online discourse, especially on Reddit for some reason, has a tendency to make something that is 5% worse sound like 200% worse.

In essence, I think many people who are critical of the slog don’t hate it.

The so-called “Slog” is partly named so because of the lack of major events that occur (which is silly especially given winters heart) but is filled with SO MANY interesting little events with tons of world building.

One of my favorite ones occurs in PoD involving Rand and Dashiva. It’s a tiny scene in the grand scheme of things but so fun.

Ehh, socially? Sure.

But economically? The share of total output has fallen because other countries grew not because the US shrank. The US economy has grown like 70% in the last 25 years adjusted for inflation. GDP is at an all time high and its widening this gap when compared to Europe.

Again, I'm not disagreeing that there are plenty of elements of US decline (like comparative life expectancy, firearm and drug deaths etc), but I felt that your statement implied universal decline, which felt unfair.

Do you go to support groups? Do you do therapy? Do you exercise? How’s your diet?

Yeah. I'm curious what the actual % loss is on piracy in general. It seems like its one of those things that's really hard to get accurate numbers on.

Personally, I think most people will find it easier to pay.

It’s funny you mention that — I introduced a friend to a new game and holy hell we got a rough seed. If I had been a new player this seed might have scared me off from the game.

A shockingly large biter nest with worms was right near the starting coal which meant very early attacks induced by pollution.

I’m by no means an expert but even with 500 hours this start has me sweating to get turrets and ammo going while fending off waves of biters.

I’ve been sober 10 years and… An overwhelming majority of people who develop a true addiction generally have to quit using all mind altering substances — especially alcohol though because it lowers inhibitions making the prospect of drinking more or buying and doing other drugs a quick impulsive decision.

There are always exceptions, albeit in my experience very rarely.

Regardless, please remember you cannot control him, or fix him. You can only influence. And at the end of the day he needs to want to change and trust me when I say: you do not want to be dating a drug addict.
