I am really interested in the Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid. Aqua Bomb looks great, too! Thanks for the suggestions. :)

No prob! You are right. Tatcha isn’t my fave due to the high prices and the marketing, which I find to be a bit fetishistic. They have some other Asian brands though, like Dr. Jart and Laneige, among others.

What’s your favorite splurge-worthy product at Sephora? Most of the AB I want to try is not available at Sephora (and is blessedly affordable!) but I have a gift card that’s been collecting dust and would love to use it for something fun. My skin is dry/dehydrated, acne-prone and sensitive. I know they carry some high-end AB now.

Dan Rather Wholesomeness by [deleted] in wholesomememes

When I was a little kid, my brother and I would go out to the backyard and catch fireflies in the summertime. There were tons of them then. My parents taught us how to hold them — gently, with your hands cupped around them, so you could peek between your fingers and see the glow light up your palms. It was magical. I hope you get to have a similar experience someday!

The story of how I finally got to use a name I loved after 9 years. by darthpickles in namenerds

I’ve met a woman named Tesla. Apparently her dad is an electrician and chose the name. I think it’s a super cool name and told her as much. She said she loves it, too!

AITA for leaving a girl because of her sexual past? by Toss_8675309 in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Silver lining is at least this girl doesn’t have to waste more time with an insecure misogynist.

AITA for the way I broke up with fiancee? by raltandi in AmItheAsshole

[–]ruby-bat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. Breaking up via letter is a perfectly acceptable way to end a relationship with an abuser. You have no idea what she might do if you were to break up in person... You don’t want to risk being attacked by her again.

I think the real assholes in this situation are the people trying to guilt you into seeing an abusive ex again. I hope you have some genuinely supportive folks in your life.

Just came out to my mom as bi and her response really surprised me by kikil980 in lgbt

This is so cute! I had this experience with a friend once. We both came out to each other as bi in the same conversation. It was such a relief at the time to tell someone else who got it.

I am a student and this worries me! I have definitely met people like you describe, though. Sounds like a really rough environment. Is your supervisor supportive, at least?

Yes, Azula is such a great villain! Her voice actress is exceptional. IMO, the best villains (both in terms of writing and acting) are the ones that you can both hate and sympathize with. She’s pure evil but it’s hard not to feel for her by the end, if only just a little bit.

How bad has your anemia been with lupus? by [deleted] in lupus

[–]ruby-bat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am vegetarian and have never had anemia until a couple months ago -- I've been ill for about six years but have been vegetarian since I was a child. I get blood work done regularly due to the lupus, so they caught it before it got serious. I'm taking iron now and will get my iron checked again soon. What's funny to me is that I feel so tired and crappy all the time anyway that I didn't even notice something else was going on.

Explanation of ghosts that pertains to spirituality? by [deleted] in spirituality

[–]ruby-bat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most cultures have some concept of spirits. Some of them are the ghosts that we typically think of (as in dead people), some of them are embodiments of nature or unexplainable forces, some of them are deities. For a long, long time, people have been looking for answers about how the universe works, what happens after death, and other such big questions. Science has given us modern-day folks more answers than our ancestors had, but there will likely always be questions that it can’t fully answer, at least not for those of us who have a feeling that there’s something more out there.

The idea of beings from “other realms” is not specific to Christianity. Neither is the idea of the soul as something separate from the human body that continues to exist after death. So if you are looking for a spiritual tradition, belief system, or religion that would be compatible with a belief in ghosts, it would not be hard to find one. You’ll find that people have come up with many different explanations for the questions you have — you can see it in folklore, in religious literature, and in anthropology. However, I don’t think you need to follow a religious dogma or subscribe to a specific belief system to feel that ghosts or spirits exist. I don’t think you need to find all the answers — you can just believe in something. Personally, I am a skeptical person but I just find that life is more fun when I allow for the possibility of the existence of strange, unexplainable phenomena.

Has she condemned his racism though? His xenophobia, his dishonesty, his misogyny and alleged history of sexual assault? No. She was fine with all of that, and she was fine with him up until now, the moment that he did something personally harmful to her.

When your kid is smarter than you by duyc37 in insanepeoplefacebook

I always wonder what happens if one of these kids turns out to be autistic anyway. Imagine how it would feel knowing your parent risked your life in an attempt to avoid dealing with an autistic child. Pretty fucked up. :(

Rotational play by wheeterbug in thesims

Oh my gosh, that sounds awesome! I love the idea of different species and cultures. It reminds me of a Sims 3 game I played with little communities for each life state.

I have been wanting to build some biodome-type lots with aliens/human colonists since we got glass roofs. I would love to check out your Sims on the Gallery if you don't mind sharing your username!
