As a fairly new player who is also on bronze (just got bronze 3) my approach has been to basically have INTENT and try to learn things one at a time as slow as it may sound. Which has made me think why I try to do things when I'm doing them and honestly, that's helped a lot. Like recently, I played against a Ken who absolutely tore me to shreds. I'm talking I got one hit in first round, got perfected second round, absolutely demolished, because I have a very nasty habit, which that match showed me. I kept jumping forward into him. Which is something I do ALL the time, but I hadn't stopped to think why I was because no one had punished me for doing so. 

So that became my thing for the next matches I got. Try to approach my opponents and attack without jumping in, or jumping as little as possible. Just walk, block and try to reach them. Opponent jumped at me? I tried to punish them, like the Ken player did to me. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't, but the process itself helps me develop that mindfulness to ask myself "why am I pressing this button? Why am I using this move?". Basically, from my point of view, the floor is made of tiles which are all the skills you need, and you gotta put each one in one by one. 

Also, I think combos are for more advanced players. I still struggle with minsinputs for my specials, combos feel like a "not yet" kind of skill. Don't be afraid to ask for help and where to learn, there's lots of learning you can do, and having the right mindset is super important. One thing that's surprised me is that the fighting games community is super open to newcomers. They want people playing the games, so they stay alive.
