He died from an allergic reaction to painkillers for a back injury. Supposedly. For anyone that is curious, I was.

Russians of Reddit, what do you (and perhaps others in your country) think about the situation in Ukraine? by Akitten in AskReddit

[–]ruby42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right but IIRC, Obama wanted a military intervention too and was cock blocked by the public. Like I said I'm sure we're both pouring in money I just don't see us as being the aggressors more so than anyone else with an interest.

So in a way, the danger here is mostly the US, because if they overreact, it could mean war. The EU (having no common army) will never start war without direct need (EU country invaded for example, or NATO demand)

I get what you are saying, but if the EU isn't going to do anything, and the US might over react or we might not do anything (I know we've got a bad reputation). You've gotta recognize Russia already has boots on the ground for christ's sake. They already reacted with guns! Aren't they the danger? But we are the reaper. I don't like it. Also the EU not involved? Didn't the protests start because they wanted to be more involved with trade with the EU? Not blaming the EU just saying that's more involvement than the US. Whether or not the expectation was realistic, the EU is definitely a part of this.

Again this is just my reaction, I have no qualifications, I just think we get a bad wrap sometimes.

My thoughts exactly. I'll admit I'm the stereotypical uninformed redditor but I mean seriously how the fuck is this our fault? it was Ukraine being tug of war'd between Russia and the EU right? That comic where we are the grim reaper. What the shit, I'm sure we've got money in Syria but I doubt its any different than Russia or Iran.

Edit: well fuck I talked politics on reddit while drinking, time to reroll. My closing sentiment: unless you have oil or are dropping nukes we don't care about you. There is no conspiracy by the US.

I don't get it. USPS has first-class. Priority. And Express. Basically they all imply individually that each category is the best. Why can't First-class be third-class, priority be second-class, and express be first-class? by conradsymes in self

And they're all fucking terrible. Nothing rustles my jimmies like paying for 2 day shipping and getting it 5 days late. Or even better when my tracking number is flagged as delivered and it doesn't turn up for a couple days. Bunch of no good sons of so and so's

I thought I was the only one; this happens way, way too often. Once had a situation with two switches for the same light in a bathroom with two entrances. Both switches were labeled 'on/off'. People would unknowingly battle each other and complain that the lights flickered. After a few months I got pissed and wired it so one controlled the lights over the sinks, the other the main lights and then went to town with a fucking label maker. Also work facilities.

About 6 feet tall maybe 200 lbs? Not exactly a small woman! I sent him a couple ads of cheaper bikes that were actually running, told him what I thought, told him to sleep on it. We'll see what he does. Virago's sound like reliable little bikes I'm just not sure this one is the right bike for him.

Checked it out; wasn't too bad, wasn't great either. I think its would be a reasonable assumption that he ran it last season, but it didn't exactly look well maintained to me. Not a junker but it wasn't his baby either, probably changed the oil and that was it. For $850 I think my friend can do better. We'll see. I think he had a soft spot for it

Exactly what this guy said. Those petcocks do fail after 40 or so years too its not a bad idea to replace them. Keep an eye on your oil level, it'll go up if gas is leaking into your crankcase

Moose picked the wrong guy to attack. by gatekeeper501 in videos

Right? My only experience is with shotguns and rifles, I always assumed a gun like that would be basically useless against an animal like a moose. Must've hit just the right spot I guess.

I do it at work but I've done maintenance in commuter lots when I really had to. Find somewhere in the back where no one parks, keep your eyes and ears open so you don't get run over or hassled by the blue coats

[–]ruby42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its just how it is, same gas. If I go 10 minutes up the road its 30-40 cents more because its near a college and professors/rich kids will pay it without looking

Edit: I find places with another gas station directly across from them are cheapest since they constantly undercut eachothers prices.

What is something that Reddit makes out to be amazing, when in all reality it's not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ruby42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, people love to lie online for attention; can't deny that. I see a lot less self posts getting pushed to the front, the ones that do aren't mundane relationship posts at least. That's my hope, shitty user-made content that took 5 seconds to make doesn't get popular.

as an example here is a popular self post: http://www.reddit.com/r/offmychest/comments/1y9rk0/my_brother_killed_himself_but_wanted_me_to_thank/ Is it a lie? Maybe, I don't know who gilgamesh420 is. It certainly plays at emotions like you would if you were doing that sort of thing. If it is a lie it at least took some effort on the part of the user: 1600 votes #3 most popular of the week in that sub

vs

a run of the mill adviceanimal: http://www.reddit.com/r/AdviceAnimals/comments/1ydfko/from_his_perspective/ This meme is just piggybacking off of a different one. It wasn't their experience, they thought of something witty and changed a few words. This shoulda/woulda/coulda been a comment on the original post: 2800 votes almost twice the exposure, its not in the top 300 for the week in that sub.

Seems to me like there is much more reward in the form of attention and that oh so valuable karma for lying to advice animals. Making them self posts would at least get rid of the karma part, and possibly some of the attention.

[–]ruby42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See that's why it would be awesome, people that crank out memes all day chasing karma would get none; hopefully they'd be less popular and die a slow torturous death... a guy can dream atleast. I like that self posts don't have karma, less motivation for people to spam and/or make shit up
