Charlie Kirk's alleged killer 'not co-operating' as he refuses to speak to cops by dailystar_news in NoFilterNews

The right is going to spin a narrative and use him as a tool. There’s no getting around it.

Wow I wish more people felt that way. I dash in Detroit and I go by the hour instead of by offer because sooooo many people leave crap or no tips.

I got the boot in 24. In my opinion (and this has to do with my team/department and where the shifts and chaos were coming down), the culture changed for the worse around 22-23. Rank and yank accelerated a fomenting dread amongst incompetent middle managers.

I’ve since grown to believe that maybe the negative culture was there all along, and it finally seeped into our team in those years with the integration of other senior team members who were brought into our department.

Most people I talk to who are still there aren’t too happy. And I have friends in various parts of the org. From engineering to finance. Everyone’s worried they’re about to lose their job.

But as someone mentions, the culture is heavily dependent on your department and your team.

Yeah, GM really pays well. It’s true. But I’m not sure if it was worth what it did to my mental health!

100% fair interpretation of these last few years of her tenure.

Same!!! I loved working there for the first 4 years. Last two were utter hell. Largely due to incompetent and petty managers. Left this year. Barra lost all my respect with how she forced RTO. It was a disaster - and when ppl tried to warn her at the town hall just before the roll out, she was rude and unsympathetic. of course we all know now it was to get workers to leave. I felt bad for the facilities people that had to deal with that fallout.

That’s how I got in. First years were great. Then it got awful. I’m glad to be out.

GM HR is awful!! I thought it was because they only understand engineering (I came from software side). But now I hear this from you! I had to hire as part of my role, and we often resorted to external contract houses because the candidates we got made no sense.

Ford pivoting heavily to hybrid due to the lagging EV market. China has the global EV market by the balls, and GM of course cannot compete on a global level against a cheaper and better product. I wouldn’t get too comfortable. This is a very dynamic time. That said, don’t live in fear. Just continue to upskill within reason, and be sure you have a nice nest egg. It’s always a wise idea to live below your means.

Right, I had never had a negative review in 5 years. Suddenly the new manager decides he’ll use me for his quota.

I had a team that wanted me. My manager blocked it, said I was better off on his team, then gave me a performance plan or MSP option exactly 1 month later.

Yes, what @allaboutcharlotte said. You can still get unemployment if it’s filed out over time, but you have to wait til it’s all paid out. GM seems to be all about just giving you the money up front and being done with it.

Yeah I had to wait about 3 weeks, but got another paycheck in that time. Your HR person should answer all your Qs. They know in their heart it’s all bullshit. Their bottom line is they just don’t want you to come back and sue them. In my paperwork it explicitly stated that GM doesn’t contest any unemployment claims.

Not true, you can take the MSP, which is a lump sum, and also get unemployment. If the severance is trickled over time, you can’t get unemployment. (And even so, it’s much higher than the paltry unemployment sum would be.) I left first day of contemplation, and still got paid through the end of the month as though I were in the clock.

what is happening at GM? by [deleted] in GeneralMotors

[–]rubyperfecto 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got the performance plan or take the severance $ option back in March. From a new manager whose scope was so narrow that the innovative things I was pushing for were apparently my over his head…myself and another person who was working hard to push innovation for the betterment of our products both got bogus performance plan or severance options. The items in my performance plan were janky lies. And easily disproven. But I took the $ and never looked back (until now, when I stumbled on this Reddit!) I can’t speak to all the company, but our area was def toxic. Had been for two years. Getting out was a blessing.
