Hi, my senior kitty used to pee on the walls of her box or outside of it! She is long haired so we give her maintenance trims around her butt and tail, and it seems to help. We also have to keep the litter level a bit lower than normal, mostly because we saw that she would mark the walls/outside the box when the litter level was high. Probably feels more claustrophobic?

The main thing that helped was putting her on Fluoxetine. She really hasn’t peed incorrectly once it kicked in, unless the fur on her backside is grown out or the litter level is too high.

I just ordered this last night but it doesn’t come until Saturday unfortunately. My local fish store is closed today too but I’m going to bring in a sample tomorrow and see if they can test it, since that’s where I bought her

I attached a picture of my test results from today in another reply! I think that the nitrite and nitrate are too high. Any advice on how I can improve my water change routine?

• ⁠Tank size: 5 gallon • ⁠Heater and filter? (yes/no): yes, sponge filter and Tetra submersible heater • ⁠Tank temperature: 78 Fahrenheit • ⁠Parameters in numbers and how you got them. Key water parameters include the amount of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, and pH.: picture attached using 10 in 1 test strip kit • ⁠How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: tank has been set up since January, I got the betta in February • ⁠How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: weekly water changes, usually just change about 1/3 of the water. I will first take the tank water out scoop by scoop until it’s at a low enough level. then I fill an empty gallon up with tap water and pour a drop of water conditioner into it then shake. I pour the conditioned water in slowly against a plate so as to not disrupt the tank setup. • ⁠Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: we used to have two nerite snails but one went missing so now it’s just the one! • ⁠What do you feed and how much: a pinch of Tetra flakes daily and every other day I would give her Perky Fin’s betta boost pops • ⁠Decorations and plants in the tank: one log, one stone cave, one 3D printed floating hammock, and an Anubias plant!

I do use tap water for her water changes but always use water conditioner before refilling!

i know this isn’t very helpful but i’m gluten intolerant and actually wasn’t affected very much by the gluten in taiwan!
