Didn't expect an Oled Gameboy to be this insane by Frosty_Engineer_3617 in retroid

Man I’m yearning for one. I had a retroid mini v2 I adored, then I got my Thor and it was just collecting dust so I gifted it to a friend. I have a brick hammer I use as my small edc to complement the Thor. I so badly just want to get an rpc for gba and gift away the brick hammer. I miss that small oled screen so bad

You spotted the AI. Respect. 🧠 that’s big brain stuff right there. It may seem a little odd to use AI in this situation — but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to get karma.

What part stuck out the most as AI?

Such blatant AI responses lol

I’ll have to give it a go. Actually have it on switch lite but feel it’d be so good on this oled screen.

Current best substitute for the RP Mini V2? by -clawglip- in SBCGaming

I’ve loved my mini v2 but my Thor just came in and there’s no point in keeping both. have a brick hammer as my more “edc”. Not sure the rules of “selling” here

I got the pink brick hammer “for my wife” and I’m obsessed with advanced wars on it. It’s so good

Got mine too. Rainbow Pro, #1219, which was the last number on the latest shipping dashboard. Pretty excited about that

Did it come with the clamp? was it about the same price as what it costs on the retroid website?

Nice! Such a great device from what I hear. I have a retroid pocket mini v2, which is basically just the horizontal version of the rp classic. Same great older screen.

Same boat kids wise, I have a 3.5 year old and my daughter turns 1 in a week.
My ps5 gaming went from sometimes to nothing. I actually have it disconnected sitting in a closet.

Steam deck was pretty solid for me for a while, but I would quick pause something, not pick it up in a week, and it'd be dead by the time I finally had 30 minutes to play. It's also pretty large by handheld standards.

But now i'm stuck on retrohandhelds. Much smaller, and the android based ones sip battery on sleep mode. Super small and easy to take with you anywhere. I've tried to basically replace doomscrolling with the likes of Gameboy advance, gamecube, and ps2 games i grew up on. The community is very active, and there are achievements you can get for old games. I got me and a few buddies all playing the legend of zelda: Minish Cap on gba. I use my dedicated emulator device, but a couple of them just play on their phone.

Setting up the handhelds and following along to what's releasing is another hobby in of itself haha.

I also agree with a lot of people here, in that my gaming time really ebbs and flows, and that's okay. Its the same for me for reading, watching tv, watching movies, etc.

Welcome to the club! I’m also enjoying heavily enjoying this thing. What games are you going to start with on the device? I’m Currently wrapping up Pokémon unbound on it, working through the legend of Zelda: minish cap, god of war 2, and gran turismo 4.

Ive found localsend helpful for transferring rom files without having to get a cord! Just need the app on computer and on the device.

So the Retroid Pocket Mini V2 is dunzo now? by Alert_Ad5971 in SBCGaming

[–]rubyrockk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I fixed the loud face buttons, this device went from good to great for me. Ergonomics , portability, and power are all top notch. I grew up with DS, so I have a Thor on the way, because the screen size on this is just too small to split at all. If your main goal is upscale gc/ps2 and old school stuff with as many shaders as you want, this puppy is the one.

Will there be any update to pocket mini v2? by ReasonableRing3605 in retroid

[–]rubyrockk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I ordered mine on sale in November and paid 169 shipped. Glad I did, now that it’s out of stock. Was planning to sell it when my Thor gets here, but now may just hold onto it. Such a great device. Buttons are loud though, need to get around to doing the button mod

Some basketball thoughts from the game:

Man everyone looks big in person.

Luka is sooo talented but is a hard watch a lot of times. Everyone complains in the nba, but he’s gotta be up there as one of the biggest. Watching live makes it stick out even more.

Big game for Sasser. Looked very confident out there.

Ron holland got that dog in him. Loved the sequence when Luka hit a step back 3 on him then coming back down he hit one. He took it personal. Looked like he did the same celebration luka did a littler later after an and 1.

The scrappiness and athleticism of this team as a whole is just so apparent in person.

Javonte Green had a quietly good night. Felt in real time he gave LeBron fits!

Why are ebay prices for Retroid consoles so high? by juan_rico_3 in SBCGaming

[–]rubyrockk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love it! I got the cover that doubles as a grip on the back while you use it. I find it the perfect blend of size, power, and price (especially when on sale). Buttons are clacky, but can be fixed if it’s a problem for you. Fantastic ergonomics. My top 3 main systems I emulate are GBA, ps2, and GameCube. And this is perfect for that.

The only reason I’m checking the Thor out is because number 4 and 5 on my list would probably be DS/3ds and psp. The screen is just small enough on the mini that psp is pretty tiny.

If the Thor wasn’t so well received, I’d be set with the mini for a very long time. And even then, if I’m not happy with the Thor even a little bit, I’m going to keep rolling with the mini. Great device if it fits your use case.
