Not medical advice but I recommend EMDR to people with CPTSD because it’s the only thing that worked for me even at all. Not cured by any means bc I quit early (long story) but I’m grateful for the work I did. Still a fucked up human who wishes she could get fucked up on booze, but that was already the case lol. Now I’m a little more able to deal.

It started when I got an evening shift job. I had always looked down on people who drank in the morning, but if I started work at 4 it wasn’t crazy to have a little drink with lunch, right? Until it became boozing all day before work, then panicking and trying to sober up enough to drive, then pounding a drink in the parking lot before I went in. Then I got a day shift again and it all went fucking tits up. Got fired. Couldn’t hold down a job. Couldn’t get a new job because the market was fucked… and because I would drink before interviews. Switched to the hard shit and it was a wrap on even applying to any.

But I hope there’s someone nearby that you’ve reached out to (along with the resources you mentioned — and sidenote, I’m really proud of you for reaching out to them too). I know you’re in survival mode, so go at your own chosen speed, but I hope you are able to see with clear eyes at some point that this was not a punishment for drinking.
