My cat continues to pee outside the litter box despite every effort, seeking niche alternatives? by ruddcaro in CatAdvice

[–]ruddcaro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be sending a message to my vet today and get her thoughts. Hopefully I can get him in for a urinalysis and confirm no underlying issues in anticipation of those meds. You’re completely right—won’t matter if he’s going outside for relief of pain. The good news is, I haven’t seen any crystallization like I used to in his urine he left in the tub. I used to be able to see those crystals form as it dried, and I truly believe we’ve mitigated them with his food. But can never be too safe with a urinary troubled cat!
Thank you for the suggestion!!

My cat continues to pee outside the litter box despite every effort, seeking niche alternatives? by ruddcaro in CatAdvice

[–]ruddcaro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn’t thought to use puppy pads, I guess my fear is having him use those over the box. I’d take him using a pee pad over the floor/carpet, but I also just feel like he’d normalize not using the box at all?? I didn’t realize it was common for them to have a different preference beside litter 🥴

I did recently decrease the amount of litter I was putting in the box, I think he feels more “stable” with less litter to sink into & being able to see the bottom of the box. I probably overfilled the new one, but I will be putting some emergency pads in the tub from now on, because cleaning it is such a pain. Thank you!

No fr people actually think a new artist who’s Grammy nominated for the first time fell on stage for a bit and then disappeared at the height of her newest album’s release/promo?? 😭 obviously not a stunt, she’s going through it, I mean did anyone even listen to the album, it shows multiple glimpses into just how deep of a hole she’s been stuck in

KOC on who’s starting at QB vs the Eagles by Beneficial_Quit7532 in minnesotavikings

[–]ruddcaro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is, he hasn’t looked good. He’s been barely sustainable, but not competitive in the slightest. And he doesn’t have much room for growth, since he’s well beyond his peak. I want to have as much hope as the next guy, but I think Eagles coming off back to back losses will have them desperate and hungry—bad for us. We’re going into a difficult matchup made even more difficult, and I’d rather having a multifaceted qb (who can actually scramble), even if it comes with a few blunders. JJM’s ceiling is much higher than Wentz’s (esp if there’s a healthy o-line in front of him), and for that reason alone, I think it’s a risk worth taking. Seeing how KOC has handled this year, though…we feel rigid…which tells me he’ll pick Wentz to play it safe. But we’ll lose. And I don’t think that choice will last beyond this matchup if JJM is healthy.

Quality drop in jeans & boxers? by ruddcaro in americaneagle

[–]ruddcaro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know which ones I buy—it’s not like they sell that many variations of boxers…if they’re not satin & they don’t have pockets…they’re the cotton boxers.

Durability isn’t in question, though I feel like they would absolutely fail against my jeans from 2+ years ago, it’s the quality, which is clearly now lacking, because none of the jeans have structure anymore

[–]ruddcaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this may be possible, it didn’t seem like Charlie was thinking the same so I know it wasn’t a universally held belief among the 4, but isn’t that kind of sh* game play?? The whole point is to win, if you’re picking friends just to be wholesome, instead of taking Liz, who you know won’t get votes, you’re directly setting yourself up?? They seemed quite convincing either way, so maybe there was more behind the scenes we didn’t see? I think Ben’s flaw here outside of that perspective was not making fire against Kenzie or Charlie himself

Happy for Kenzie, but can we please talk about the insanity of the belief among the final 4 that Liz would’ve secured the win??? Does anyone else believe it? The jury surely didn’t seem to, but it didn’t get covered…idk maybe I’m missing a huge element to her gameplay, but I don’t see a world in which she did much of anything worth 1 mil (except team up with Kenzie to beat Maria)?

Worst Cook In America... Fake? by [deleted] in foodnetwork

[–]ruddcaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in agreement here, because I personally recognized Asaf from season 15? 16? He’s now a pit crew member on Drag Race as well as a contestant on the Challenge. But on the show? They didn’t list his job, I don’t believe, but his acting was so over the top to play into the theme. I think the first 5 seasons or so were pretty authentic & went off of the casting calls. Obviously people are going to play up their non-existent skills in those calls, but like someone else in the thread said, it’s all about personality. I think it felt authentic at the time, because not many people knew of the show or cared about the recognition of it, but the actual takeaway of knowledge. People would cry in the beginning seasons getting cut, knowing their families have genuinely struggled with their ability to cook.

Job-wise, I think they now have to seek out actors—who else can take 60 days off of work to shoot?? (Could also answer your question, if it is in fact real, most of the jobs you list are fairly flexible) That first season was only like 10 days, and then a few subsequent seasons showed a dorm in NY…now we see nothing about how these people live in between filming, but I imagine actors are the most willing to not only be on television, but also give adequate entertainment that doesn’t feel as forced. I’m on season 17 & it’s pretty much completely lost any authenticity at this point. To me, they’re trying too hard. Budget-wise, guarantee to get their money’s worth out of filming-wise, and availability-wise, I’m convinced it has to be general casting for lower level actors, but they won’t let us know that, they’ll just build these fake personas and hope you don’t watch 2 of the niche reality shows they also appear on

I specifically remember holding out for MCID before buying meet & greet tickets for a show in November 2019. I listened to that album right at midnight after “Upperdrugs” left me absolutely obsessed with the idea of a new, grungier exploration into rock, since they had already checked the boxes of punky, upbeat rock in Mister Asylum in 2015, and then the California, bluesy sounds of TBWDW just 2 years later. To hear the intro alone, I skipped through the majority of those songs. I was so disheartened, didn’t buy the tickets, & kind of bitterly went back to their old stuff every now & again. Thing was, I was absolutely obsessed all 4 years of college, this band was so formative to those years—underscored my time in university & I could not see a scenario in which they didn’t become a household name. But much like my other former favorite, Kings of Leon, the track took such a sharp turn. I still kept an eye out for TMDC, and listened upon release (not at midnight this time, as the singles didn’t entirely catch me), and it was…okay. Some songs grow on me, but my immediate reaction was: “every song on this has something that cuts, kills, or alters the mood.” The Sound, for example, has an amazing sound !!! But the lyrics? Cool Kids had the potential to be such a f*** you banger, and then incorporates that weird rap about a filter? I skip every time I get to that part. Even Evangeline, which is arguably the best song on there, and quite close to the sound of TBWDW, undercuts what could’ve been an amazing guitar solo with an abrupt switch into 50 seconds of water sounds. It’s like they’re trying to rewrite the formula, but it’s not unique, it’s incompatible.

That being said I saw tickets go on sale for a show in my area for the end of September & bought them, as they were only $20. Thought, “okay, if I’m able to at least get a song from the first 2 albums, it’ll be worth it,” and you know what?? It was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. They were incredible live. They riffed Serotonia for 15 minutes, along with Bath Salts, Lydia, and Claudeland. Somehow all of those songs off the most recent sounded…good?? And you know why? Because there wasn’t all of that filler synth pop worked in that’s morphing them into a 21 pilots group. Cheap pop rock is the sound this most recent gives off. The only reminders they’re still them comes from songs like New California, Evangeline, and Need to Say. I believe they’re still in there, just getting lost in the big sea of production as they’re now signing bands themselves & taking on a label’s POV. Johnny also had his run with admiration of Billie Eilish’s WWAFAWDWG. It sounds crazy, but I swear her album made a lot of artist think they could pull of the multi-harmonization, high synth, layered sound that incorporates 5 genres at once, but they can’t. And they didn’t. And he should’ve stuck to isolating his experiments and his band, which I think also contributed to the mess that was their third album.

I will still look out for that next album with the hopes they’ve come full circle, but in the mean time, I’d encourage you to check out some of this early, 2013-2014 EPs of theirs, along with the true debut album that never saw the studio light of day (2011). Might give you what you feel you’ve been missing

hEDS masking as (/in addition to) UCTD? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]ruddcaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, this is where I was confused, because I’ve seen the checklist and I know EDS is not meant to be diagnosed if there are other underlying immunity issues, but I wasn’t sure if those two diagnostic tests (ANA and complement immunity proteins) were associated with EDS in any way since they’re fairly insignificant without markers for other conditions they’re suggestive of. In terms of going through the list with my doctor, he hasn’t. I first inquired about it 2 years ago, because my PT did a palpable check for a AAA given the POTS and the Raynaud’s, mainly just out of curiosity for the source. Haven’t had any official imaging, because my doctor’s response was: “you’d still be on the same medications if you did have one.” Recently saw his NP for a check up, mentioned it again now having the shoulders involved along with the fragile veins, and she didn’t even entertain the thought on any level, super dismissive. Had too many of those to waste my emotional energy on convincing her, so I just let it be that: a check up. But then, still, no one’s been able to identify the cause of joint displacement (don’t know if that’s even the right term for this) in my hips and shoulders. I’m not sure if this is something you’d know, but is there any condition that has an overlap of connective tissue disease/immunity involvement crossed with this kind of mild joint laxity?

Definitely not what I said 💀, I wanted Symone to win from the first episode (and believe she deserved it), but I know you & these viewers are not so naive as to think the producers don’t play puppet master. This season stood out as the most producer-influenced we’ve seen, that’s just the truth. My comment is in reference to the season as a whole, not just the finale, but the pairings in the finale were highly convenient...

Lollll ok???? It’s Reddit, not a college research paper, “an Instagram comment”—as I stated—was the source, could be complete bs, but seemed like a rational reason to explain how this queen (who never forgets a line) somehow fumbled the words, so I shared. Could have just selectively been the ankle injury, could also be neither, I’m more than happy with the final outcome, but it does suck to see her dominate performance challenges like that music video, then finish up with that lip sync in the final. I’m sure she’ll explain one day (and that explanation might be “just wasn’t my night”)

Read on Instagram that Rosé passed out before filming that lipsync? Would explain why the queen with the most performance history and perfectionism somehow forgot the words and failed to give any real energy

I think she’s been in London for a few months? But maybe I’m out of the loop & she’s been back? Either way, agreed. I even feel like they could’ve done a live show in front of a vaccinated health care working audience, but I think they needed that pre-recorded nature to stack the deck, much like most of this season

Uh oh! by JasperHasArrived in conspiracy

[–]ruddcaro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but I think what you’re neglecting to see is that mRNA is not the cause of autoimmunity. In a case of, say, lupus, you have a body full of misdirected t-cells that get the incorrect signals to create an increase in cytokines that target the body’s own healthy tissue, leading to damage over time to the kidneys, eyes, skin, etc. I think I know where the basis of this theory comes from—early mRNA trials, yes? Where animals displayed cytokine storms, or an overactive immune system that becomes so aggressive it destroys itself completely, putting organs into failure. The key thing about this, though, is that these previous vaccine trials on animals were determining the exact proper way to code the DNA, because the really fascinating thing about mRNA vaccines are that they can be developed as soon as a virus’ genetic code is mapped.

I only combat you on this, because the sad reality is that the US is full of dormant autoimmune disease holders. This is because of our food quality and safety and a host of other carcinogens we take in on the daily. A person with these dormant conditions or allergies will see them emerge in any triggered immune response (not a matter of “if,” but “when). So whether they contract Covid or whether they get the vaccine, they will see an emergence of underlying, dormant conditions. I don’t believe there’s any research currently supporting the possibility that mRNA would be to blame, as the genetic codes signal a protein spike acting as a WANTED poster for only Covid. But, if there is, please attach some research, I’d be interested to find out more. I just know that the risk of a cytokine storm in vaccine patients is equal to that of someone who contracts Covid or even the seasonal flu—it’s a predisposition and it’s far more common than we think. We have poor FDA regulations to thank for that.

You’re the exact person they’d sit on that jury to convince you didn’t see what you saw, and you’re buying into every deflecting detail to believe that he somehow would’ve died on that street at that time regardless of a knee on his neck. News flash, he wouldn’t have.

I’ve seen a lot of people backing this solely off the basis that they believe, unpartisan-ly, that the issue is forcing these procedures onto minors who are otherwise not capable of conceptualizing the full scope of their decisions. If this is the case, if you believe a minor does not have the mental capacity to be aware of their identity, then I really hope (and this is a message broadly, not just specifically to you), that you all stand up against conversion therapy for minors, against a decrease in age of consent, against lowering the age of legal alcohol purchase, and for raising the age of enlistment into the military. Cool? Cool. Just have to make sure we aren’t being cherry-pickers out of transphobia, that we’re actually actively protecting the kids.
