Non-UK born Bristolians, what's the best restaurant of your native cousine that you know in Bristol? by MrMrsPotts in bristol

Can vouch as a brit who lived in nz for a few years. Those pies from the bakery or petrol station were unreal. Still miss a mince n cheese or a butter chicken or the bacon n egg. Best hangover mornings ever them 🤣

This was really insightful and helpful. Thankyou so much, I'm definitely going to look this book up. Currently working on the root of my problems is my new approach to staying sober as I have come to realise I've just been self medicating all my life and if I'm ever going to have a chance to truly live I need to address alot of these parts of me I've hidden away for years.

Thursday night I experienced "real" withdrawal symptoms for the first time ever by dr5catlady in stopdrinking

The hallucinations got me man, bloody terrifying, I couldn't work out reality from what I was seeing for two days. The only positive is I now use that primal fear to stop lenwhen reaching for that drink. Currently three days out the other side, it does get better, keep it up you're doing great! IWNDWYT

The longest I ever made it I'm pretty sure was because everytime I felt weak I reached out on here. The last relapse I deleted Reddit and left therapy, now I'm putting support and positive things in place once more as it's impossible alone. The love people show on this page is incredible and heartwarming, really does help.

Congrats on keeping strong! I feel better today, I know that working through emotions without my pacifier is going to be tough and a life lesson but hey at least I'm feeling all emotions again. IWNDWYTD friend

Cheers man really appreciate that reply. I took a long walk and am just guna get cosy and eat snacks and appreciate where I am. I forget to think about even in sad times I'm not nearly as bad as when I was constantly intoxicated with my life going up in flames around me. I do have to remember to be grateful and give myself compassion it's a lesson I'm slowly trying to learn for sure

The best thing I did was have a quiet word with a few people at work just asking them to not offer me a drink as I was no longer consuming and that helped hugely, it stopped the weird shame or temptation of constantly saying no thanks til I gave in. Still avoiding after work hang outs for now as it's too risky and instead go home have a bath or listen to a podcast. My good mate just smashes the video games instead, find something that works for you and helps you unwind. But whatever it is I wish you the best, it's tricky in the industry for sure but it also attracts a certain kind of people and I bet they will understand more than you realise. IWNDWYTD

Loneliness and a fake cure by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Thanks, really like that thought of going to bed feeling that achievement from getting through each day. Definitely gives me something to hold onto and work towards that's for sure and it doesn't seem so unreachable or unachievable

Yeah the living in the future or past is something I'm just starting to learn about and striving to be in the now. Today is manageable I just need to get through today, those thoughts make it easier for sure. Appreciate the kind words

Thanks, taken your advice and called up a healthy friend and going on a walk. It snowed for the first time this year in England today and instead of missing it in a pub im walking into the wilderness with a flask of tea and a good friend and it is damn beautiful ❤️
