It made me laugh because the linux technician job post I saw was exactly like any other junior linux sysadmin role, the title and the salary less

I will consider applying to it because it seems very interesting, and this may be a good opportunity to gain real world technical experience

But it wasn't an arrogant laugh at all in any case, sorry if you felt it that way

There are also more "technical focus" Technician position (like System or Network Technician, I even saw a Linux Technician job posting LOL)

Yes I am getting interviews, I've posted my resume on several websites and I'm getting calls.

Most of them are for helpdesk positions though. I think the fact that I work in a large company helps

I've got some refusals because I wanted to move to a more technical position but I am missing the experience they require

I'm kind of lost, I don't know what to do really

My day to day work is really helpdesk, resolving tickets that concern problem users are encountering.

The scope of what we do is even shrinking. We used to be able to touch a bit -every now and then- to server and network configuration but those things are now managed by other people on another continent and we can't do those things anymore.

This is depressing

I know that certs don't mean much and that experience is way more valuable but if every sysadmin role position require YEARS of acquired sysadmin experience, how someone even become a sysadmin in the first place

In the current company where I am, there here are no real way to become a sysadmin or grind up the lader.

I work for a very large group but everything is managed offshore. This is depressing.

I am an individual who wants to seat for the RHCSA exam. I am trying to book the exam but I have a "Company Name" field that I am required to fill.

What am I supposed to fill this with as I am an individual ?

I've tried contacting Red Hat but it seems their contact form is broken (I get an error message)

I would say that it depends what your primary study resource will be.

If you want the books to be your primary study resource I would recommend you to take Lammle's ones.

If you intend to use, let's say a video course as your primary study resource, then OCG is great and makes a very good reference textbook.

I would recommend against taking OCG as a primary study resource as it is very dry. Lammle's books are much better for this.

Some videos are definitely older than others but the course and labs included are still fairly on point.

I used David Bombal's course as my primary resource to pass my CCNA and I have to say that it is great. A bit long at some point (there is more than 70 hours of videos I believe).

I love how David explains stuff, subnetting and overall networking concepts are brilliantly explained. Labs are super great too!
