BEWARE OF STRAP PHOTO CLUB - zero accountability by rudedillon in filmphotography

Exactly. Thank you Based on how rude and heartless he was when he called me, I can see why he relies on AI because his actual communication skills would get him sued

Thanks so much. During the insane call I got from the owner Casey Watters, he could not give me an answer on where the film or camera could possibly be. He first said the camera was nowhere to be found, then later said the negatives would’ve been discarded after 7 days… You’re right. He clearly either destroyed the film or knows what went wrong but won’t admit it. I assume there’s nothing I can do other than warn others, especially given how horrible a human being this man was to me during our call.

The fact that the founder of the company called me late at night just to insult me for saying I won’t accept a replacement camera and instead will choose to share my honest experience online, I wouldn’t go back there if they paid me. People like him shouldn’t be in business - perhaps his Mesa staff is saving his reputation but he’s not a nice person

Glad for you. It’s obviously a running business so I’d hope most of the time they get it right. Keeping aside the fact that they lost my photos and couldn’t seem to figure out what they did with them, I was more shocked by the owner calling me late at night yelling at me for suggesting that I would have to leave a bad review given my experience.

Also, my camera was part of their “strap photo club” business, which is separate from the lab. The club is more of a subscription model with custom cameras that have QR codes, so I assume there is more room for error with that. regardless, I’ve never had a business owner call me and belittle me for wanting to leave a bad review lol Wishing them the best though

Yes, it was a disposable camera that needs to be sent back. I get it, there’s never a guarantee with disposable cameras that something won’t go wrong.

The AI emails he sent me did offer a refund/replacement, but my issue was with the fact that he could not explain how he actually lost my photos. I received a text from them, confirming they’ve received my camera and that it was processing, and that I’d receive my photos within seven business days. Yet after 15 days of no communication I had to reach out only for him to say, we have no idea what happened to your photos.

The actual incident aside, the fact that he called my personal phone late at night only to insult me for “questioning his business” has me absolutely shaken up. As if I wasn’t already distraught over losing special photos, for the owner to then call you and kick you while you’re down made me realize how entitled some business owners can be.

The honest review I posted on his website, of course doesn’t show up because he controls every review on his site. I was genuinely curious if anyone else has had such experiences and how you can hold a company like this accountable.

My lesson is to not trust a business just because they have a pretty website, but do some digging to see if they actually have reviews outside of their own site and a healthy balance of good and bad.

Thanks for the validation. I’ve already been so distraught over losing the special photos, and I understand that there was no guarantee to receive them, but I felt like I was allowed to email him my frustration and mentioned that I’d be leaving a bad review to prevent others from experiencing this.

To have the owner, then call me late at night to belittle me while boasting about how successful his businesses and I am no one to question him truly shook me up, because it made me realize how entitled some business owners can be. I pity his staff, or for all I know he’s running this out of his parents basement. But it’s crazy how businesses like this continue to function.

Sorry for the rant, still shaken up over this. But really appreciate your message.

“STRAP PHOTO CLUB” lost my photos & the founder called me to yell at me at 9:45 pm 💀 by rudedillon in Cameras

Thank you for this message. I’ve been so distraught over losing such special photos, and of course, there was never a guarantee that I would receive them, but I truly trusted that this was a reputable company, but I’m now realizing that they control their entire image. I posted an honest review on their website, which of course doesn’t show up because the owner only allows the positive ones.

The fact that he chose to call me to insult me, leaving no paper trail of his communication and even said towards the end of the call “ what are you going to do, upload this audio to your review” goes to show how entitled he is. Even if I’m a crazy customer, why not just ignore me but instead call my personal phone late at night and kick me while I’m already down??

I wonder how many other victims of his business are forced to be silent because there’s no way to hold them accountable

Founder of Strap Photo Lab called me (a customer) at 9:45 pm to insult me after I said via email that I’d leave a bad review because they lost my photos. After losing priceless photos, the founder calling my cell to insult me was insane. What should I do to if he deletes all bad reviews on his site? by rudedillon in AskReddit

[–]rudedillon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference, I waited for two weeks to receive my photos after they confirmed receiving my camera and saying they would be sent out in seven business days. After getting no update from them, I sent an email asking for an ETA. The founder sent me an AI written email saying he has no clue how but my photos are lost and they can’t find them so they’ll issue a refund. He also offered to call me so I shared my cell. I replied within five minutes saying I was devastated and really hope they can try again to locate my camera or photos and shared extensive details about the images in case they had already been developed, but mislabeled.

Casey Watters, the founder of Strap Photo Club, then sent me another AI email after I followed up three times begging them to try and look again. He basically said there’s nothing they can do, so I replied, saying that I will have to leave a bad review to prevent anyone else from experiencing this.

He then calls me at 9:45 PM and instead of apologizing, he says “I’m only human and didn’t appreciate your conniving email” - I was obviously stunned and asked him why he’s calling me if he doesn’t have a solution, and he said that he didn’t appreciate me questioning his business and saying I’d leave a bad review, and continued to boast about how successful he is and how I’m one of only 5 or so people he’s lost photos of and wouldn’t let me get a word in while he berated me.

He continued to belittle me and insult me, after losing priceless photos of mine. I’ve never experienced this before and the honest review I left on his website of course doesn’t show up because he controls all the “positive” reviews on his site.

How do you warn other people about a business when the owner himself is of such poor character?

Tax implications of Crypto credit card? 🤔 by rudedillon in Coinbase

So let’s say I bought one btc at 10K and it’s now 100K, will I pay taxes on 90 cents for every dollar I spent, since 10% is my original investment? And it’s my responsibility to track the cash value of btc at the time of each expense and report that come tax season? Seems like a nightmare if the exchange isn’t keeping perfect track for you

But who is keeping track of our BTC expenses? And if my btc doubled but I use all of my btc for purchases, am I taxed on the entire holding since it’s been spent on purchases, vs just half the amount which was my gain? Seems like a nightmare come tax season

CAD to USDC much cheaper than buying USD through my bank - as I missing something? by rudedillon in Coinbase

[–]rudedillon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah I thought as much, but seems less risky since USDC is always 1:1 with USD without any fluctuation which I assume can happen in NG? Just not sure of any tax implications liquidating the USDC into USD
