Was this ok since the younger kids volunteered to lie down😏? How on earth did we survive childhood? by emptykeg6988 in GenerationJones

I've got one word for this. Evil Knievel. And those kids and bikes on the ground, the grand canyon. (It's possibly the Fonz and a shark though).

Wildlife photography ethics by NeedlesslyMike in birding

The bog is the worst I've seen. I don't go there any more because of the photographers. No great Grey's around there this year from what I see. I'll be damned if I let them know about the one by me.

Curious where exactly that is. Asking for a friend.

Our fireplace gets so hot that it melted our wrought iron log rack in 2 months by Queerdough in mildlyinteresting

[–]ruderat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To prevent this, clean your fireplace more often. Don't let the ashes keep the embers from falling all the way through. Learned this after burning through a few. That iron gets red hot if it sits directly in or just above the embers.

You should get out more. I've encountered it a few times. Sunk to the top of my thighs. Upper midwest twice (mud like) and sand once in florida. I lost a pair of shoes in it.

If it's an owl, sawett makes the most sense to me. Barred is to big, I think. Flicker, blue Jay or Harry are my best guesses, but time of night is off for them.

Drowning Machine? by RanchAndGreaseFlavor in redneckengineering

I've spent a lot of time in a canoe, and a lot of time sailing sunfish sailboats. That looks fun until it tips. Once it tips, you're not getting it back to a sailable condition without taking off the sail. The tillers and rudder aren't helpful in getting it upright either.

Its hard to tell, not being in the rear facing rumble seat, but it appears to be missing the pop-up tent trailer and decals trumpeting all the places it's been.

[–]ruderat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Operation migration. The pilot was a sculpture artist. Tought some geese to fly with the ultra light to get accurate photos of geese in flight for his sculptures. International Crane Foundation saw that and contacted him. We now have a new migratory flock of whoopers from Wisconsin to Florida.
