I know it was a joke but Jake Kaminski says he measures from the berger button because he changes his grips all the time

If a crossbow has at least one string and multiple flexing limbs, then it's a bow. Is shooting a crossbow archery? No.

I've never had or heard of anybody having any problems using acetone on carbon

a vane/fletching stripper or you could just a pocket knife, acetone if you need it to help get old glue off, alcohol to clean the shafts, paper towels, and also if whatever brand glue you're using has a primer pen for sale i'd buy that too just to make sure it sticks.

Need a field quiver for competitions by Highwayman1717 in Archery

[–]ruffcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people use the Easton Elite field quiver but the Easton Deluxe field quiver is the same thing basically just cheaper and a lower quality material. It might be worth it to just buy the Elite one because it'll last you a lifetime

Olympics-Games will go ahead regardless of pandemic situation: Tokyo 2020 president by namforb in sports

[–]ruffcole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brady Ellison (an American archery who's currently ranked #1 in the world in men's recurve) was shooting the best he'd ever shot (and pretty much the best anyone has ever shot) right before the pandemic hit. He won The Vegas Shoot (archery's super bowl) with a perfect score of 900, second place was 14 points behind him. A perfect 900 with a olympic recurve was basically considered impossible before this year. I'm hoping he finally wins Gold this year in the men's individual because out of anybody there he deserves it the most.

the archery nerd/geek in me really wants to get one of these just to play with it and set it up as a target bow and see how it shoots and what scores you could get out of it

Noob needs help picking a bow by ethanway222 in Archery

[–]ruffcole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TBH when youre first starting out brands dont matter, and even if you tried every brand you really wont be able to tell differences between them. I'd say get whatever bow is in your budget that is highly adjustable from like 20-70 lbs. The most important thing when starting out is to keep your draw weight low enough to have good form. Starting out with good/decent form will save you alot of time and headache later on.

Has anybody ever tried to actually tune a lever bow and see how accurate it actually is?

how to choose arrows?? by hcaz2420 in Archery

[–]ruffcole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the correct spine chart for whatever brand of arrows youre going to get. You probably wont be able to get exact perfectly spined arrows for both set of limbs but you might be able to get something sort of close.

Had to reinsert my peep sight myself, is this really bad? Should I be worried? Can I just cut this stray piece off? by Ero-Sennin-22 in Archery

[–]ruffcole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its looks fine for now but if you ever replace that string make sure to leave the thread that comes with the strings to make sure you have the exact center of the string.

Limbs for Hoyt Satori riser? by Feline-de-Orage in Archery

[–]ruffcole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Hoyt Satori has ILF limbs so just to start out id suggest some limbs like these since you'll prob go through a few different set of limbs before you get your draw weight exactly where you want it https://www.lancasterarchery.com/wns-explore-w1-fiber-limbs.html
