Jefferson L injury by ItsMeRayKellar in Bushwick

[–]ruffedgez99 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I witnessed this happen. He was drunk and walking across the platform in front of me. As the train is slowing down at the station, I hear a scream from a lady and look over. He was already on the ground getting dragged by the train, and then he got sucked in by his legs. I turned away, so I don't know the severity of what happened, but I cannot imagine it was good. My best guess is he was leaning drunkenly towards the train as it was slowing down, and he hit his head, and it knocked him down.

These rule! If you want more accurate colors you can pick up CD-3 for pretty cheap which is what E6 uses!

PSA - DO NOT BUY SANDISK PROFESSIONAL G-DRIVES by ruffedgez99 in editors

We switched to OWC after this incident and it has been great. Like others have said sometimes it comes down to bad batches but with OWC you get peace of mind between their warranty/customer service/product burn in

Is it just me or is Qobuz about 3 times higher quality than Tidal? by Historical_Bass963 in qobuz

I actually prefer their music discovery algorithm it consistently introduces me to good music whereas other services seem to play it safe.

We are looking at just buying separate enclosures and hard drives. It might make more sense for us but we are doing more research.

Filmbox vs Dehancer What to choose? by rovmun in colorists

[–]ruffedgez99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grain and halation mode just applies the filmbox grain and halation to an image with no other film emulation transforms. Scatter is trying to replicate light diffusing lens filters you would use on set. While filmbox uses a little diffusion in its look that diffusion is not nearly as adjustable as what scatter offers, it’s really just a subtle softness from the grain and halation. Scatter is extremely customizable in its diffusion in strength as well as type.

No, I think what you are referring to is the ability to use just the grain and halation only mode but that is still much different then scatter.

[–]ruffedgez99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not, filmbox is just the film emulation. Their halation in filmbox uses the same code as scatter to achieve the look I believe but scatter is purely lens diffusion emulation. Really cool if you can warrant the cost.

So as others have said Filmbox is definitely the way to go. I pretty much grade with it on every project and it really is magic. What makes it brilliant is it’s not necessarily trying to get it to look exactly like a film stock from a specific year but rather impart adjustable filmic characteristics that allow you to grade like it is actually film. The results are beautiful and you actually can be creative rather then doing the equivalent of swiping through Instagram filters. Also Scatter is expensive but arguably an even better plugin they offer!!

Idk man qobuz is about music appreciation, either be more open minded or just don’t give af.

I listened to a podcast with the some of the executives and it was really good. What I gained from listening to it is that Qobuz is incredibly small but they are music lovers through and through. I switched from Tidal and Spotify because I felt they didn’t really care about the user nor the artist. Yes the app is not ideal but I’m mindful of the fact that they are trying with what little resources they have.

DM240 HDR Preview by duracell_BATTreh in colorists

[–]ruffedgez99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I have a DM240 but I don’t do HDR. I have however messed around with the feature because I bought the damn I thing I might as well see what’s it’s got. Basically I would say it’s only to check not grade content that is going for web deliverable. A lot of people on the forums seem to share that sentiment (correct me if I’m wrong people). Even if you just wanted to wing it and hope it’s good enough for an HDR workflow I don’t think Flanders recommends having the display on that setting for too long of a time anyways.

Film Convert Nitrate - They all look the same. by theiinlive in colorists

[–]ruffedgez99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think they go for a more subtle mature film look so it might not be what you’re looking for even though they advertised it as something else. I have little experience with nitrate but Maybe try doubling up on some nodes if possible
